We've been invited to a tasting on October 28th, and the attendees are requested to bring a wine made by a woman vintner. Since everyone else in our group will likely bring something from California or Oregon, we'll opt for a European wine, and are soliciting suggestions. Arianna Occhipinti and Laura Bianchi come immediately to mind, but I'd like to hear what the rest of you would recommend (and it should be something that is widely available, since we live in Kentucky).

Helen Turley, Merry Edwards, Cathy Corison & Katheryn Hall. You'll be a Rock Star if you bring Marcassin.

JJ Prum has been under Katharine’s control since 2007.

Great idea, but hard to source here (I've never seen a Prum in this state).

I'm thinking along the lines of Elizabetta Foradori, Cinzia Merli, etc.

Kathryn Kennedy makes some very good wines, and she was an excellent vintner. She died in 2009, but the wines are still excellent.

Domaine de Cotes Remont is a fun one since the domain has been run by women for generations. Plus, it's cru Beaujolais (Chenas) so there's that. Might be tough to find but it's around.

You already stated Foradori which is an outstanding choice. Another Italian that immediately came to mind was Virna Borgogno.

I have read several blog posts about Ms. Foradori and Ms. Antinori of late. This might be of interest.

Mount Horrocks (cordon cut riesling is different) made by Stephanie Toole

E. Pira & Figli. Barolo. Chiara Boschis is the winemaker since the late 1990s if I remember correctly. She is also the first female winemaker in Piedmont.

Nice. I have a bottle of the 2013 coming. Four stellar reviews in CT by trusted tasters

Why did I not think of this. A couple of my wifes pals are going love my new request. (they always bring wines *made* by a woman vintner)

Another one that I forgot about was Agnes Levet who is, I believe, now in charge of wine making at Bernard Levet Cote Rotie.

Some good wines out this way made by Brianne Day, a wide range of Pinot and Rhones, and Kelley Fox makes some great PN.

I guess the op needs to change the subject to read European Female Vintners because it's too much work for some to read the first post

Although Aline Bailly is very involved at Coutet, she is not really the winemaker.
Ditto for the charming Veronique Sanders at Haut Bailly. She is a wonderful ambassador and 'face' of Haut Bailly, but she delegates the winemaking to a bloke.
