This will likely only really affect people in the UK, Europe, HK and Australia. I host my servers in a datacenter in the main telecom hub in the NW which goes through The Westin Building (which strangely enough is unrelated but next to the Westin Hotel). The building is doing some power overhaul that will require a 30 minute outage of the data center tonight. It is scheduled for 12:30am-1am PDT. Once the power is back online they will be testing from 1-4am PDT with potential for sporadic outages. To minimize chances for hardware damage I will be onsite (lucky me!) to do a controlled shutdown of all my equipment around 12:20am. I do plan to bring the site back up at 1am but will will likely stick around until they say the coast is clear on testing which hopefully will be inside of their 4am published window. If for some reason you need access to your data, now would be a good time to use the spreadsheet tool described here: http://www.cellartracker.com/ow.asp?ExcelDownload As an aside it should be a crazy scene. I have never actually seen another living creature in the datacenter, but there is millions of dollars of really exotic hardware, massive storage arrays, fiber channel, crazy cool geek stuff. I am very excited to meet some of the geeks and see if I can figure out what sites they are actually hosting...
