I have inventoried a client's cellar and printed barcodes, using the method of one code per wine type/size because many of the wines are still in wooden crates. The barcodes that print out do not match what is listed in the inventory (because inventory by default assigns unique codes for each bottle). The per wine type codes all start with W. The scanner doesn't recognize them so I can't scan them out of inventory. I think I just need to figure out how to make the "W" barcodes display in the inventory instead of the unique bottle barcodes that were there by default. Any tips would be appreciated.

Eric will probably chime in with more details, but I believe the W####### codes are in Code 128 format (not Interleaved 2 of 5). You'll want to make sure your scanner is capable/set to properly read those types of barcodes.

Also, I should note that each bottle is assigned a bottle ID when it is logged in to CellarTracker, and you can't hide or replace that code with something different. The W####### labels encode the specific WINE (not BOTTLE) ID, and size.

If you scan those barcodes into the main search box, it should recognize the barcode and take you to the Drink or Remove page for that wine, allowing you to select an individual bottle. If you use the Scan Barcodes page, it should recognize the wine and just pick the first bottle to show in the list.

If your scanner is properly reading the barcode label as it is printed on the label, then we'll need some more information about where on the site you are scanning it to troubleshoot.

I think the W_ barcodes are only supported on this page: https://www.cellartracker.com/list.asp?table=Scan

Haha, I am incorrect. They do in fact work in the main search control as Dan suggests.
