DAMMIT!!!!

Result of a Crush 2011 and Christmas Cuvee.  I had missed the Christmas wine before today.  When big brother is hitting $90-100 a pop, and the second label is still less than $25, I'm unable to resist.

DAMMIT!!!

Was that offered today? I haven or received the email yet. I already have three of each though so I don't need more.

Edit: the offer just arrived. Does Paul stagger the emails?

Yep.

It's tempting, as I've enjoyed every bottle of RoaC I've had, but I have too many bottles in this price range at the moment. Don't need more.

Yes,  When asked he's said there is some tiered rolling out of offers.

I asked Paul last time I visited, around his 5th anniversary festivities, where I was at on his list.  Best he could cipher, due to dummy users created during their start-up and some other vagaries, is that I was in his first 80, and even though I've slowed down, I still buy regularly from FP, so I'm guessing I'm first wave for the e-mails.

SPU (Saturday pick up) today; picked up purchases dating back three months to the day:

2 x 2012 Chehalem Pinot Noir Three Vineyard Willamette Valley
2 x 2012 Gramercy Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Lower East Columbia Valley
2 x 2013 Kevin White Winery En Hommage Columbia Valley Red Rhone Blend
2 x 2013 Kevin White Winery La Fraternité Yakima Valley Red Rhone Blend
1 x 2012 Soos Creek Champoux Vineyard Horse Heaven Hills Red Bordeaux Blend
2 x 2012 Soos Creek Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Mountain Red Bordeaux Blend
2 x 2013 Kerloo Cellars Mourvedre Art Den Hoed Vineyard Yakima Valley
2 x 2010 Maison Sichel Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend
2 x 2012 Amavi Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley
3 x 2008 Bunnell Family Cellars Clifton Vineyard Wahluke Slope Syrah

Of course there was the tasting, FP's new project, Block Wines; tasting two whites from 2014, a semillon and a chenin blanc. Really liked the chenin blanc, went for three bottles.

As I was signing for my order, I then discovered I had 23 bottles boxed up, I couldn't leave with an empty slot - impulse buy off the shelf, a 2011 Lauren Ashton Syrah.

Best part, Dick Boushey was there and by the time I got there right at closing time, the crowd had disappeared and I was able to chat directly with him for about 10 minutes about how he got into grapes so many years ago, water rights, the hot early summer and long term impacts of climate change and a few other items as well.

And then a visit to the off-site, to put the new goodies away.

Those empty slots are a call to action.

Sounds like you had a nice chat with Dick. I heard it was 111 in Walla Walla today - whew

I have one bottle sitting at FP. The shipping dabs temp protection has held up anymore purchases as well as a touch of dissatisfaction for the 2008 and vintages beyond to be predictable. I'm certain that at the decade mark all will be sorted, but currently temperatures and so many other great wines have distracted me. 2010 hasn't been a disappointment. I just should have purchased more. My Euricentruc cellar is just very crowded.

DP's off shore stuff has been tempting. Bandols sums it up. Gotta and shipping and weather. Such a good decade for wine buying.

Dick really is a great ambassador and genuine guy. I've been lucky enough to chat with him 2-3 times and he's always generous with info and opinions, and funny to boot. Very glad he's working with DP on some of his block projects.

I've become pretty delinquent in my Full Pull buying. Only 3 bottles this year, and still have less than one full case pending since last fall. It will be odd not to have a car full next time I visit Seattle.

eta, with today's offer on the Block wines and Jeff's recommendation I filled my pending case with 3x the Block Rothrock Chenin Blanc.  I've loved Chenin Blanc from a few producers here, Pontin del Roza, L'ecole 41, Hestia, Waitsburg Cellars, McKinley Springs, and this looks like another winner.

I've stopped my rationalizing. Not enough international offers coupled with average pricing are what did it. It took me about 3 years to amass a single case of purchases. Oh well ... I gave it a shot, but now I'm done.

I have started deleting offers, but have 6 waiting for fall. No need to buy any more wine that needs to be shipped.

Any opinions about the announcement today? Who's buying in to "The Rat"?

Cab and Grenny blend. That would be a new one for me, but from those vineyards I might just have to bite.

I'm actually more intrigue with the winemaker than the vineyards.  I might be in for a single or doubleton out of curiosity, but I've never been overly thrilled with funky Cab Sauv.

I don't see any hint of price point, unless I missed it.  Over/under  $60?

I need more wine like another hole in my head, but I'll admit that I'm intrigued. I'll have to see what the price is, then go from there.

Anybody know anything about today's offer for 2014 Walter Scott PN? I'm not that knowledgeable on Oregon PNs. Dennis?

I haven't tasted many, but they work for me and get a lot of love around here. I get mine @ Sec or Vinopolis for local pickup. '14 is supposed to be a very good year and '15 more of the same. We are the new CA, all vintages are good or the winemakers have learned well.

Just curious, who is buying "La Rata"? Trying to limit my buying these days - just paid for the first quarter of the daughter's college - so I'm passing.

Being a Cayuse project, essentially, I'm not surprised by the pricing. I haven't been buying much of late, so I went ahead and requested a few.

Decided to pass as well since I am already on both the Cayuse and No Girls lists and that part of my cellar is FULL (no pun intended).

I am intrigued by the wine, however, hopefully will get to try in the future. Perhaps I have to wait until Jeff's daughter finishes college!

After much thought and discussion on other threads, I will pass. I'm getting low on OR pinot and that's what I like to drink now. Well, so does my daughter and her husband though he does buy his own beers. Now if it was a Cab Franc/Sangio blend, I would be tempted.

It took me too long to fill my last case with FP so I will be passing, otherwise I would probably bite on this.

I had the same hesitation, but part of this particular offer, if I read it correctly, is that they will ship this separately without filling a case. You'll note that the "TPU" price is the same as the "regular" price on this offer.

I went for a doubleton, we'll see if I get allocated.  This is my first FP request in about 6 months, and I have no other wine there now.  Also breaks my moratorium of about same time length, since all my wine budget, and more has been spent in my yard this year.  I'll let the wine sit for a year or so anyway if I get some, so no worries in letting it sit in Sodo.  And since I've had the pleasure of supping and sipping with everyone so far who has passed verbally in the thread, there may be a sharing event or two in the future.

The price point is about where I expected, if a bit more, and since I'm NOT on any of the Cayuse/HP/Reynvaan lists this is chance for me to dip a toe in.  I paid over a hundred for some GOK a few years ago when it appeared at my grocery store for a day, one bottle of that left, so this is a bargain by comparison.

ETA, well I lied.  I had picked up 3 of the FP house Chenin Blanc back in June to finish a case, when I picked up.  I blame jrock for that BTW.  But still less than a full case purchased via FP for all of 2015.   Quite a change for me.

I've helped House Zitarelli more than House Atreides got from the Fremen. I definitely have a Jones for that spice!
