Is anyone buying 2018 burgs? Sounds like another hot vintage with lots of variations on "surprisingly good" in the vintage reports.

Those comments make me want to load up on 2014 and 2017.

....and 2015, and select 2012s, and 2010, and 2009..... then backfill 2002 and 2005....

Whether you call it climate change or global warming, ripeness is rarely a factor nowadays. There are almost TOO many good vintages to take anyone's word who has a financial stake in the industry (critics included), so it's very important to try before you buy unless you have extended experience with how a producer handles certain growing seasons.

To answer your question, our last vintage was 2015, and that was very selective. It takes Burgundy too long to reach a point in it's evolution that we consider properly mature, and we might not be around to enjoy anything newer.

Haven't tasted any. Seeing 2017 Bourgogne in the stores, but haven't tried any yet. The only 2018's i have are my Maison Harbour wines that arrived today.

I did a load of tasting back in January in London. Lets just say that if you like riper and early drinking pinot then it might be your thing.

If you like a bit of nuance and grip, then there wasn't much.

I found the wines pleasant but fairly bland. I did but some modest Bourgogne Rouge because they really were good value and the relative ripeness helped them. As for the more grand stuff, I'd rather look at other vintages

Agreed 100% - I also did tastings in January. I have bought nothing from the vintage EP this year.

Took allocations in Fourrier, Jouan, Cathiard, Duroche, and PYCM.

I'm in with a mix of Barthod, Fourrier, Arlot, Dauvissat, Arnoux Lachaux and Arlaud.
I don't really care for the vintage, to be honest. Perhaps"ripe" vintages are going to be the norm. I rather focus on those producers I like the style. Anything you buy today is going to be a better buy ($€!) than tomorrow.

Curious about the 2019 vintage. Similar if not warmer?

This is a wonderful opportunity for southern England Pinot Noir producers!

I don't get allocations of anything, but I'll no doubt end up trying the 2018 vintage eventually (eventually, as the wines take a while to get over here!). And over-paying, as you suggest -- but I try not to think about that . I don't think I've tried Burgundies from such a warm vintage before (I've yet to come across any 2003s) so it'll be interesting ...

Yes, the other thing I noticed was that prices EP for the 2018s were "usually" not lower than prices for the 2015 and 2016 wines. Both when they were released EP and also their market prices now. That is a silly state of affairs as those two vintages are far superior.
