A paint job for the exterior of the house. Last year it was interior paint and carpet, this year the outside gets attention. House is 17 years old so time to spruce it up. Writing those big checks is no fun. Drinking a bit of vino in the evening helps. Sigh. Cheers. Sigh. Cheers.

I got the email, but I must confess that it was another one of those, "Now, why did I sign up for this list again??" I usually only sign up for new lists when there's a tie to a winery I like. I suspect is because of their winemaker? Anyone know what the price entry point will be?

6x 2005 Chandon de Briailles Corton Bressandes, after selling 90 cases of wines recently due to too much wines, I am not sure why I am still buying! The wonderful experience with '93 Briailles Bressandes just too much to overcome.

We went to a tasting on Saturday:

2013 Stone on Stone White Wine @ $35 (75% Sauv Blanc, 25% Semillon - very fragrant, it was fine but did not purchase)
2012 Cabernet Sauvignon @ $85 (Napa Valley, Diamond Mountain, Lake Hennessy, St Helena - soft and approachable now - bought 6)
2013 Palisades Vineyard Petite Sirah @ $55 (blarg - huge monster of a wine, teeth staining, high alcohol, tannic - pass pass pass)

True confessions. I know those wine deals keep coming, but am finding it difficult to resist.

For me:

2 X 2012 Hilliard Bruce Pinot Noir, Santa Rita Hills. Paid less than $30 per bottle and based upon extensive research may qualify as a smokin' deal.

As a birthday gift for an in-law that I like, based upon her taste:

1 X same Hilliard Bruce
1 X 2012 Grgich Hills Chardonnay, Napa Valley

Above within budget, with DH as usual an enabler. No hassles.

Cheers!

A nice gun metal gray suit from Brooks Brothers. I haven't bought a suit since early 2006, and neither fit and one disappeared as it was loaned to the in-laws.

I need a good suit and am glad to have one. Black pants and a white shirt will work for a funeral, and nice khakis, or dark blue wool will work for weddings, but this can work for both and I will look much better in it.

Now back t the wine and other vices....

And yet again Scott, you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

20 to 25 yrs is about right for this wine, the '93 is on full cylinder now after 22 yrs and should last another 10.

Pulled the trigger on the Rudius release, passed on Mending Wall, they don't ship to NH and didn't interest me enough to send to a shipping broker. I'm trying not to buy wines that don't come direct to me, tired of paying high price shipping charges.

3x Farella Vineyard Cab, first vintage for them
3x Stony Vine Vineyard Syrah from Walla Wall, first vintage as well

the 2011 Trotanoy is something I would like to see in my area. Should be a good one.
