Also, I hadn't declared my contribution. Here we are:

2007 Schramsberg Vineyards Blanc de Noirs Brut
2007 Surh Luchtel Mosaique
2008 Mont Tauch Fitou Les Trois
2009 Domaine de la Pertuisane Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes Le Nain Violet
2008 Navarro Correas Malbec Alegoría Gran Reserva
2011 Torbreck Muscat The Bothie

Okay, so it's a little young. But, all spectacular.

After the few weeks I've already had on my project, and a couple more in front of me, I'm going to need this weekend; looking very forward to it. Also looking forward to seeing you guys again from Texas CT I, and meeting those I have yet to meet.

Still bummed TWG isn't joining.

Until then...

I still plan on bringing these two mags and I will grab some other stuff but haven't given it much thought. Just have to figure out which night to bring the white and which for the red. I am not sure if we can make the 80s tasting; depends on time and how far we get in finding a condo for our daughter. Would like to though. Has the time been set in stone yet? The hotel would be great for that.

We are flexible on the timing for the 80's tasting.   Do you think you would be done by 3:30 - 4:00 ish ?

Guys, I thought briefly about shipping a bottle down there so I could at least participate in spirit....but, as usual, you're already WAY overloaded with great wines. Have an awesome event! We'll be babysitting the grandson that weekend, so I'll be happy too, just not as drunk

If you plan another one after summer's over I hope to be able to get in on it.

Petitblanc, We will be sure and set aside a glass at the end of the table in your honor. Will make sure it is a high alcohol hot wine with lots a stewed fruit

Seriously though, somehow I get the feeling we got another one or two of these in our future and look forward to having our honorary Texan with us.

Well I guess I am going to be in the dog house. The mjobtx +1 is now only mjobtx. My wife learned today that she is leaving for Colombia Sunday and won't return to the U.S. until late Saturday night. And no, she doesn't work for the Secret Service. She does however work in Latin America.

If you need me to drop out as well in order to bring a couple up from the waiting list, let me know. I will do so. Sorry for the inconvience but my wife's work calls and she must answer.

Not a damn thing. Deal with it.

First pass cut at what we have so far

1980’s blind : 11 btls

Not a perfect categorization by any means but close enough to get a feel for where we are. I entered magnums and double magnums as 2 & 4 , resp.

Obvious gaps that are there

Champagne – 2 more
Dry white - only one so far
Sauternes / Port - 1 more

We can adjust as this list firms up over the next week or so.

I have checked into the Saturday afternoon availability at the Holiday Inn. It looks like we can use the area where they serve breakfast in the afternoon. This will take some pressure off of YoDaddyO & family and it will allow us some spacing between the blind and the dinner. Heck, it will make the bus ride out to the ranch merrier too.
Anyway, plan for this would be to have the blind at 3:30pm or so. This would give us 90 minutes before piling into the bus.

Mjobtx, let us know if this is an issue with your apartment hunting. Will adjust as needed.

If anyone else would prefer to do the blind differently, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Finally, Will be a slight adjustment for the transport cost ( $3-5 per person type number )

ooops. Looks like my inserted xcel summary did not make it. Here is what we have

Champagne 2 - always nice to start each dinner with 2 for contrast
Chardonnay 1 - Reaally dry white. Light on SB and crisp whites
other white 5
Cabernet 19
Pinot 5
Sauternes 1 - either this or port should move up
Port / Sherry 2 - could probably use some adjustment here
Cigar port / other 4
Rhone / Languedoc 5
Italy 1 - where is Billy when we need him
Aussie Syrah 1
Malbec 1

may have an adjust down by mjobtx since he is now drinking for 1.

all in all a great start. Once we get the last couple inputs we can adjust as needed to balance out.

Don't worry about Champagne and Dry White for sure. I'll bring at least two Champagne and at least one Dry White. Maybe more. I'm leaning toward a random grab of stuff like Dom Perignon, Bouchard, Araujo, Daguenau, Sine Qua Non, Cayuse, etc... We'll see what I actually pull.

Also, oski...if you seriously want more Italians let me know. I have plenty, many with age as you know. You're call but be aware we have a ton of reds and many of them are big and young. Italians will get trampled most likely.

just having fun there and poking TWG for not making it ((( AGAIN )))) . Agree we are red heavy now. Would rather balance out overall.

Just now thinking I got three lifetime supplies of Sauternes so why not throw in one more.

1983 Château Raymond-Lafon

We had a 1989 a couple months ago. It was really really nice. Will adjust the list later.

FYI - Since I only have 3 listed, I also plan to bring a nice Italian (1995 Barbaresco). I think I will also swap out the Stoller Pinot and bring a nice Chard.

I need to check the board more often. Consumed with a claims adjustor, water-damaged home and slow decisions.

Saturday afternoon at the Holiday Inn Express on Ranch Road is fine with me. We are staying there also.
I will still bring the two mags I declared and I wll also bring a mag of 2005 Domaine Weinbach Pinot Gris Altenbourg Cuvée Laurence for another dry white.

Just got back from 3 days of travel...I need to know ASAP if we are going to replace the one spot with an additional CT member on a waiting list or something.

Otherwise i need to let the chef know otherwise for Saturday night that it will only be 19 and not 20 (the ranch owners will be joining us)

anyone...anyone?

We are locked and loaded.  Down one and let's move on.  19 folks for the dinner.   We can re-calculate the average cost over the next few days.

A little info and another question:

INFO:

Timeframe: Friday...my thoughts are to schedule arriving for dinner between 6:30 and 7:00pm and begin the process of seating and ordering and drinking...thoughts?

Saturday...I would like to schedule the shuttle for 5:15pm...it will take about 45 minutes to get to the ranch. We will have appetizers, start the champagne and wine drinking.

Shuttle plan would be to head back between 10:30 and 11:00 unless everyone starts crashing and burning early.

I do suggest that for those that are brining champagne that the saturday venue is extremely suitable and fun for a pre dinner aperitif

QUESTION: Are you guys ok with me handling the check on both nights? Folks can just write me a check or pay with CC through paypal? If you would rather handle separately let me know. (i have paid for the shuttle already)

**also...we are good to go for the one less person at both venues

DaddyO,

Do whatever is easiest. I handled the tab on Friday night and let everyone pay me back via whatever method worked for them. On Saturday, it was just as easy to separate the checks. Everything seems good to me.

Bad enough I have to miss the festivities...but turning the knife is just plain cruel!

I am sure we will find a way to manage Champagne as a starter for both evenings. If there is not enough, we can balance out to make it happen. No better way to start a meal........
