Monday, Monday, can't trust that day;
Monday, Monday, sometimes
it just turns out that way.

Flurries at 2500' but rime at 2800'!

Having March like temps here in the Midwest, so slowly all the snow is melting under cloudy & foggy skies. Rather dreary weather and thinking the Groundhog won't see his shadow at week end.

50 degrees F at 7200’ like it was yesterday & low 50’s the next few days. Why I love where I live. Unlike the mountains where the snow doesn’t leave until May. Two day ski trip to Breck tomorrow where it says a high of 40 F tomorrow. That won’t last there.

Congrats dad300 and family! What a journey and happy you guys are close to settling...

I have a good friend down on the NH/MA border, and we need to get out there again to explore New England again. We took the train from Seattle to Boston during the pandemic, so stuck closer to Boston, but Barbilocks has never seen the Maine coast, and I love it, and the lobster! One of these days in a September. Seems like the best time to visit, tourist and kids mostly back to school, but weather is still enjoyable.

Yep early Mid September or very early October .. shoulder season. best time of the year.. used to go to Hampton Beach the week after labor day. everything still pretty much open, but not crowded at all. off course by late October the leaf peepers descend in troves and it becomes a mess again. the other tine to go is middle two weeks in May right before Memorial Day.

I used to go to Hampton Beach with my family when I was little. Great memories!

Incredible day at Breck. Bluebird day and not a cloud in the sky. Probably 35 degrees F on the mountain and 40 below. More of the same tomorrow. Life is good.

Sounds like excellent ski weather!!

Continued overcast, but warmer than usual temps in the Midwest. We could use some sunshine....really use it. They are now predicting warm weather until mid February, so this bizarre weather pattern might take us all the way into March. Might be an abbreviated Port season....

Long one of my favorite holidays. I always play Spirit's song Groundhog. One of my favorites from one of my favorite albums.

Today was beautiful in Chicago for a change!! Track practice was outside on the track. Woohoo!

In roughly a month it will be daylight savings again and grilling outside will begin in earnest.

Since we've only had 2 weeks of winter in Chicago I'm not sure that the Groundhog has any "performance pressure" this year.

Like most Feb. 2s in the past 137 years, crowds gathered at Gobbler's Knob to hear Punxsutawney Phil make his prediction. Phil, the groundhog and purported weather sage, emerged before 7:30 a.m. to show the world what to expect for the rest of winter. He didn't see his shadow, so that means an early spring is likely.

What's the bag limit on groundhogs? Do I need a permit?

Down here in the keys they do it a little differently. On the local news they showed a Conch turned on its back. They said he didn’t see his shadow.

Big snow day today. Already 4” or so but supposed to get up to 8” plus. Will try to get to YMCA for a workout at some point.

Digging out after 11 1/2” of snow yesterday. Thankfully the sun is out. Only went to the YMCA to workout yesterday. Roads were terrible as was visibility.

Great day to stay home and watch Wyndham Clark from Colorado shoot a course record 60 at Pebble Beach yesterday. He went to the same HS as Christian McCaffrey in Highlands Ranch.

Having grown up in Florida in the 1970s, I'm missing the place now that I'm in land-locked Missouri.

Was last down in Key West in 1994. Stayed at the Duval House, a former cigar factory turned bed & breakfast.

During our week there, we had a different Key Lime Pie every day. Gotta compare & contrast, right?

We are headed to Naples FL late April for 3 days then a week on Marco Island. We come home for 8 days then head to Curaçao to scuba dive so a couple warm trips not too far away.

But for now it’s still ski season and we are off to Crested Butte for four days. Should have around 20 ski days in by the end of February. Will probably ski two or three weeks in March this year.

up and moving. Albeit a little slower today.. two days of schlepping furniture and the like over to the garage of the new house causes me to run slow. got lots more to get over to the new house. Looks like there will be a very nice yard sale come spring in South Paris , Maine. It is not all going to fit in the new house.

That's an impressive round of golf!! Also, Highlands Ranch is a lovely area where I have occasionally visited to run some trail races over the years.

Is everyone doing ok in wet & wild south California? Chicago by contrast has been warmer and dryer than usual so there is weird weather all around the country.

I shot a 60 once...and then I finished the second nine after lunch at the cart.

Sixty years ago today, The Beatles made their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. I don't recall that, but I have vivid memories of "Yesterday" dropping, as my father loved the song and would turn the radio up each time it played.

well the new house needs the basement to be dry. (we knew this when we purchased) so we got quotes to repair the issue/s. Holy Crap is it expensive.. had absolutely no idea what it would cost to fix. not sure i really wanted to know.
anyhoo.. now to figure out the plan to pay for it.

Just got back from an Epic ski trip to Crested Butte where we had three powder days and 13” in 3 days. Truly one of the great CO ski towns. We got back to 40 degree weather yesterday afternoon but started snowing early this morning and looks to be another 10” day. Snows been coming down hard for the last several hours. The snow is up to my second step leading out the back of this house.

We planned on staying home anyway and just getting ready for an Epic Birthday dinner of Kagoshima Japanese A5. My wife bought me a cocktail smoker for my BD so looks like some smoked Old Fashions before dinner. Going with a 2009 Larcis Ducasse with the A5. Life is good.

I am in the middle of quarantining after contracting COVID for a third time, 60 % done with the Paxlovid. Feeling much better but still taking it easy.

I appear to be much more susceptible to viral infections in general since I contracted the Delta variant back in October of 2020. It's stopped feeling like bad luck and instead seems to be a trend.

Damn! Feel better soon.

We're still masking in many settings, such as when at the grocery store, shopping, or going in & out of restaurants (obviously, not once we're at the table). Current infection rates are higher than this time last year.

The big worry is Long Covid, which can be brutal for some. Everybody stay safe.

Some people certainly are more susceptible to infection but at this point avoiding a super virulent virus is getting more and more difficult. Plenty of other illnesses to keep us busy at the hospital.

I'm confident that this glass of Carlisle Zinfandel will protect me from any illness & evil spirits. After spending ALL day in a high school gym with hundreds of kids & parents i am testing my theory.
