Somehow we (okay, I) missed posting this last year, so digging out of the annals of CellTracker, as alluded to in this year's Open That Bottle Night thread, I'm reviving what had become, and will return anew, the Hallowed Annual Tradition of... [drumroll, please]

Last Puppy Night

Per the description from Khamen in the original event, the following are the rules:

quote:

Simple rule - on Friday 24th of April, you have to pop a bottle that you only have ONE of in the cellar - whether it's a singleton purchase or a bin end. Whether it's a special bottle or the last of a daily drinker pile is down to you.

Post on this thread what it was and how it was.

Together we can drink our way to a tidier cellar!

Who is in?

K

We've been fairly liberal in allowing the consumption of the Last Puppy to occur anytime during the weekend.

Who's with me?

For the 2012 & 2013 events, here are the prior threads:

2013 Edition

I'm so in on this one. Already sorted my cellar on CT by quantity and end date, printed it out and reviewing candidates.

That's the spirit!

Also, there's nothing in the rule that limits you to just one selection!

I'm in. My first candidate is a 2002 Alexandria Nicole Syrah. Might be one of first wines ever made by ANC, we got it at a library sale a few years ago. D'oh, CT tells me there was a 2001. Oh well, still likely to drink this one since I pulled it from my cellar over this weekend. I'll have a backup bottle or two ready as well since I don't have too high hopes for this one.

In. Have not been to the off-site storage yet this year. Definitely will be a few in there that are due.

We're in. We've got two 'puppies' planned for the Central Jersey Offline this weekend. Will take advantage of that loophole for Saturday consumption!

I will be returning from DisneyLand on the 24th which means I deserve to attend Last Puppy night, however I was just told we were invited to a big brothers, big sisters annual gala and I need to put on a suit coat...maybe i will bring my last puppy bottle in the car with me and we enjoy it as a nightcap? off to CT to see how many last puppies I have.

Yeah, I'd need a Last Puppy Year to make a sizable dent.

How do you a report on singletons? When I do Reports \ "my cellar" \ "single bottles" it lists "individual" bottles so I have 1300+ singletons that way. Even if many of them have clones. :)

Show Reports
My Cellar
All wines

select Bottles, ascending

I don't find a way to select only 1 bottles, but you can count or estimate from the Sort Ascending by Bottles. It's actually easier in the old interface for me.

With lots of travel that week, I am already anticipating several last puppies may find their fate.....

This turned out to be harder than I anticipated....most of my singletons aren't ready to drink yet, or are otherwise unappropriate (dessert wines, etc). I've settled on a 2009 Colle Massari Montecucco Riserva Lombrone.

I just go to "my cellar".. and click on "qty" sort..
it sorts it least to most..

Or download it to excel and you can manipulate it to your hearts desire. :)

I use the export function, load into Excel and filter on quantity = 1. You can cut and paste into another sheet for the count or just use the countif function countif(a:a,"=1").

Mark,
I clicked on "My Cellar", upper right hand corner;

click on the "Quantity" column and it comes up descending bottle count;

Then click on "Quantity" again and it changes to ascending bottle count.

Seems easy enough?!

I had that magazine, until some juvenile delinquents broke into my house and stole it (along with guns, etc).

I suggest it was in their top three or four, and maybe best.

They also stole my collection of Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers and Fat Freddy's Cat....

I got my guns back, though. Sheriff's deputies caught the offenders. What losers.
