NV Nicolas Maillart Premier Cru Brut Platine

I think it’s pretty amazing what these growers are putting out at $40 these days

On Friday I received the sad news that the distributor here of the Lallier Grand Cru Brut Rosé, which has been my house champagne for the past year, would not be getting any more stock in.

So my girlfriend (who is particularly fond of it) and I quickly grabbed 6 different pink fizzes at the same US$35-40 price level and had an extended tasting session over the weekend to see if we could find an acceptable alternative to move on to.

Sadly we could not, so now, knowing that my supplier has 120 bottles in HK and will get no more, we have to decide how many to buy (at the bargain price, it seems to me, of HK$290 (US$37)). Given that I only have a fridge capacity of about 150-160 this is a bit of an issue.

Today, Monday, being a holiday (Buddha's Birthday) I have to place my order tomorrow.

Decisions, decisions...

Buy it all, and a new wine fridge too.

OR
Drink what you have in the fridge to create enough space - unfortunately I can't get there in time to help you

I compromised at ordering 30, which the supplier will cellar without charge and let me draw down over the next 6 months.

So now I have one of these "Pending Lists" that people here talk about!

NV Union Champagne de Saint Gall Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut

Can’t let the weekend slide by without HSS. Mrs fingers is back to work on Saturdays so most of the bubbles will be delayed until Sunday for awhile.

Missed Saturday, but popped a 2008 Dom Pérignon today. Close enough. Hard to keep my hands off this stuff.

That's why you need a good supply of $40-$60 grower stuff!

Does a gin & tonic qualify for "sparkling"?
