A little twist on our theme, I just had my very first Framboise (Lindemans).

WHERE THE H HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!?!

I had no idea that such a sweet beer would be to my liking. It would have made young adulthood even sketchier than it was

They make a lot of different lambic flavors besides raspberry. All of them are anywhere from good to excellent. The peche / peach and pomme / apple are yummy too.

It’s so non-descript, it’s taken me an hour and a half to say almost nothing about it

NV Chartogne-Taillet Cuvée Sainte Anne - a really nice récoltant and worth finding again

and the real show-stopper, a 2008 Pol Roger Brut Rosé ... hummina-hummina (is that an accurate descriptor?)

When you feel in need of an extra kick to start the evening off I've found that replacing the soda water with a shot of gin works well!
(I also quite like Aperol spritz made with a dry rosé fizz rather than prosecco)

As a refreshing aperitif I've opened a sparkling can of Stiegl. Bland but hits the spot on a sweaty Saturday afternoon.

To be followed by lamb shoulder with green beans and a bottle of Langhe Nebbiolo. Cheers everyone!

When in Rome...

A Bründlmayer Extra Brut Sekt from Kamptal. I don't always get on with German and Austrian Sekt as it can be either a bit sweet or face puckeringly sour, but this is delicious. At ~€25 it's not cheap but fair value.

I've never had the 2002, but I've had 3 bottles of the 2000 and it is the best value in Champagne that we've found so far. Just a fantastic wine.
