Found post #2, page 1 of this thread, and I am on the list. I was confused at first, but the post, now edited, is within this thread and I had been looking for a separate thread.

I guess I had enough coffee to figure it out.

Cheers!

Hi All!

The Head Elves have been busy in the workshop and have sent out ALL the Secret Santa matches! Missives flying everywhere! IT'S SECRET SANTA O'CLOCK, PEOPLE!

Ahem. Anyway, everyone should have their information in the form of a PM. If you don't have your recipient information, PM me (crispino) immediately.

Recall that we're making this year the special drycab edition of SS, in that we're suggesting everyone send out a dry Cab-based wine as their gift. Having said that: just to make sure everyone's aware of this, the Cab suggestion is just that: a suggestion. It's a fun and fitting way to honor Brad, but - as has been mentioned in previous posts - the spirit of sharing good wines all around is what this event is all about. So there are no hard and fast requirements. If you're more comfortable sending something else or had other ideas on what to give, no worries. Similarly, if you as a recipient don’t want to receive a Cab-based wine, please let your Head Elf know so we can make arrangements with your Santa.

Finally: if your recipient's cellar is set to Private, PM your Head Elf for further instructions on to view it.

With that, let the cellar perusals begin!

Really looking forward to this - Cheers, All!

- Head Elf crispino

My victim and I share quite a few wines in our respective cellars.
It will be fun to find something new to share with him...

To heal any nocking knees you only understand Chris really is putting in no orders. Each rival is collecting ideas near December's celebration. In secret moves its never early. Researching into possibilites, definitely raid your cellars and basements. Please enjoy and cheers everyone!

A plea to Sir Elf!

We humbly beseech thee in thy mercy and wisdom to purge Santa's Cellar from the ghosts of Christmases past that we might better obsess throughout this most festive of events.

Done.

If anyone playing needs to see CT Santa's friends to be able to view private cellars, shoot your Elf a PM for that password. If you HAVE a private cellar and are playing this game, please friend up CT Santa for this purpose. You can defriend for privacy later on if you wish.

I always forget how busy this game gets at this time of year, but I also will enjoy chatting with each of you. Or not.

The ghosts of Christmases past are somewhat helpful. I reviewed Santa's consumption history this weekend.

Of the 300 bottles consumed from prior years 22 (just 7.3%) are are Cabernet's from California. The comprehensive list reveals some classic DryCab wines in the mix made by the likes of Jeff Ames, Robert Foley and Dan Petroski ...

This list has cranked up my idea machine for sure

• 2007 Blue Hall Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Camiana Howell Mountain
• 2012 Playwright Cabernet Sauvignon The Script Napa Valley
• 2013 EMH Cabernet Sauvignon Black Cat Napa Valley
• 2012 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Three Twins Vineyard Napa Valley
• 2007 Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve Napa Valley
• 2006 Ghost Block Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Oakville
• 2012 Pine Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
• 2011 Playwright Cabernet Sauvignon The Script Howell Mountain
• 2011 Rudius Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
• 2011 Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville
• 2008 Snowden Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Napa Valley
• 2008 Arnot-Roberts Cabernet Sauvignon Clajeux Vineyard Chalk Hill
• 2010 Paul Hobbs Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
• 2009 Ink Black Cabernet Sauvignon 85% Ink Grade, 15% Black Sears Howell Mountain
• 2004 J. Davies Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain
• 2009 Larkmead Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
• 2007 Hall Cabernet Sauvignon Jack's Masterpiece Napa Valley
• 2009 Hayfork Cabernet Sauvignon Lewelling Ranch St. Helena
• 2006 J. Davies Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain
• 2009 Pride Mountain Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
• 2009 Seavey Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Caravina Napa Valley
• 1999 Whitehall Lane Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

I always forget how fun this part is. Sleuthing the cellar and reading the tasting notes and posts for insights.... And then deciding whether to pick a clear favorite or go just a bit outside the current bottles. Hmmm....

I'm going with the clear favorite. I do enjoy this part and I almost wish it wasn't so each, but for me, the answer of what to send is so clear that it can't be ignored.
Ha!
Now I just need to pack it up and get it out...

I try to seek a reflection of my interests when considered by those of whom I am seeking to gift. I find the cellar lists are the looking glass into the real tastes and expectations and so I choose accordingly. Such illusions are the vanities of man or woman.

To my Secret Santa giftee. I am totally going to ignore your wishes, desires, and tasting notes and send you what DryCab would open when asked, "Hey Brad what is a good Dry Cab?" I suspect you will agree.

Yes!

Actually, I was struggling to rationalize the potential conflict between my giftee's wishes and my desire to salute DryCab... But after doing the research, and re-reading the guidance, I find that there's no conflict at all. I've got the perfect answer in my cellar! Swoosh!

You guys always make picking a bottle out of your cellar so easy, why do I struggle with this decision so much? I was hoping this would be an opportunity to get rid of a bottle of Maison Ilan, but I couldn't do that to my recipient, especially at Christmas.
