OK, my Santa is from SoCal. My package was sent from SoCal, the inner box had a piece of a FedEx label still attached. A wine shipment from Gary V, with a tracking number. Address in SoCal. My Santa wrote me a note saying he won a Tubbs Fire Relief Auction Lot from me. That does not leave many choices in Socal. vinopkm, Kyle are you my Santa?

Rat

Small world... my wine did go to a Nor Cal person and I won a Sonoma Fire Auction on WB. But, I'm not your Santa. Also funny that at work at times I get called Kyle by random customers, but my name is Patrick.

Also River Rat, I think you have a similar wine palate and over the years on CT... you, Wadcorp and Izzy are the CT members I would like to drink with.

Good Morning All!

Well, this is a much more contemplative group... just over 90 posts versus almost 170 in the other group. The upshot though is that we still have 10 unidentified Santas left while they are down to 4. I'm really enjoying watching this play out though.

Hope everyone is having a good week! Have fun with the continued sleuthing/guessing.

- Chris

Here I was focusing on SoCal when my Santa was more devious than I expected. Had a packge shippid to someone in SoCal to then ship it to me to throw off the scent. Having been someone who won a Tubbs Auction eliminates S1. That leaves the following:

Scott W - lots of similarities in history, SoCal connection/Falltacular - Tubbs lot?
Yogi - a local for me, the falltacular thingwouldwork
Nyccablover - based on tasting notes he doesn’t want to drink with me
Mtpisgah - similar history, I didn’t ship to South Carolina but is that where you are from?
Mankandsusanw - big Bedrock fans but Falltacular?
Mindmuse - 25% CA consumption but not a real good mesh with my palate
Ericindc - Italy, France and a smattering of domestic wines. Not too sure

Screw it, Scott W are you my Santa?

So, I could pretend that I was just playing a long game and trying to live up to my Bad Santa designation, but truth is life got busy and ... I forgot. I had in mind the reveal was THIS Saturday so, bad on me and thanks to a helpful elf nudge, I’m back on it. Will read through thread and tackle my still unopened, because I did at least properly abide by the no-peeking rules, box, ASAP.

Signed, A Truly Bad Santa, Indeed.

Ho. Ho. Oh, no.

OK, after some poking around...I see that markandsusanw have many notes on the Bedrock wines. Can't see their cellar, but I'm guessing these bottles are from them.
Markandsusanw, are you my SS?

Yes, I am the very Bad Santa who hopefully gave you some good wine I truly hope you’ll enjoy. We love almost everything Morgan has done. As less sophisticated (and not as affluent) wine drinkers as many here, it was mostly dumb luck that allowed us to stumble upon Bedrock early in their life as a winery. And they’ve rarely let us down, especially the rarer Cabs. Cheers!

PS And, Scott W, sorry, I’m not your Santa.

OK, package opened and I received a lovely Rasa 2013 Doctrina Perpetua Simone de Beauvoir. I’m very excited because what little Rasa we’ve been able to try has been fabulous and this is a bottling I’d never expected to be able to experience.

There was a vague card wishing us Mele Kalikimaka and, since I don’t think we have any Hawaiians on our group, based on that I’m gonna guess CookieFiend. I was once HER secret Santa, plus she’s been my Maui trip guru a time or two.

If I knew how to post the video of Kirk Gibson hitting a two out home run off of Fingers to win the game I would post it...you sir are correct! Also I did not say Tubbs fire auction, just that I won a auction. I did win the auction from you when you got rained out of this year's Falltacular :)

Hope you enjoy the bottles! Happy holidays

Oh crap, You’re right.

Nonetheless, thanks so much for the generous gift. Just might pop that Pickberry this weekend with Mike and Leah. We’ll surely share a glass or 40 at Falltacular this year. Wouldn’t miss it (if I have any control over that).

Happy Holidays to you and yours as well!

P.S. Wasn’t it Eckersley?

I take that back - after reading from the beginning, Dawn has made 5 incorrect guesses, which breaks a 4 way tie (including some Good Santa Bad Guessers). Dawn, you are our new leader in the clubhouse for the anti-trophy.

Yes!
I am your Secret Santa and what a pleasure it was to be able to send you a gift this time!
I knew you would get the clue right away too, though I also left a few clues in the thread - almost everything started with OK!
You had written a tasting note on a Rasa wine and had loved it - so that's what I ran with.

I hope you enjoy it and I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas.

I totally missed the OK reference — Sherlock, I am not — but ... yay! To both the wine, which I sincerely am super excited about, and the clue that actually, for the first time in CT Secret Santa history, allowed me to actually correctly suss my Secret Santa. So incredibly sorry for my stupid delay, and hope I didn’t ding any fun from your game. We will be drinking this over the holidays and will follow up ... promptly this time, I promise!

I do not see where Mark responded to my inquiry as him being my SS but since he is Rackit'ss, he obviously is not mine. Reviewing the chart I think I am going to make a guess for Ericindc.

You win!! Yes, I am your secret santa. And since I am a bad santa, I just mailed you the wine had I intended to send to you!! Should be there soon, lol. You should probably drink both together.

Also, waiting for tasting notes on the Steel Reserve.

I just did that to stoke the fires. :) And what a response! For those still playing along at home, it breaks down like this:

Santas Remaining:
nyccablover
River Rat
S1
vinopkm

Still Guessing:
bdlsmo
Exit 105
MindMuse
yogi8938

The chances of success at even a wild guess are rising...

- Chris

Never challenge a group of Bad Santas. We’ll slay you. Down to 4 in under 12hrs!

I just did that to stoke the fires. :) And what a response! For those still playing along at home, it breaks down like this:

Santas Remaining:
nyccablover
River Rat
S1
vinopkm

Still Guessing:
bdlsmo
Exit 105
MindMuse
yogi8938

The chances of success at even a wild guess are rising...

- Chris

Go ahead, give it a try. You just might stumble on to a correct guess!
