Sympatischer Blend aus dem Hinterland von Imperia, Ligurien. In der Nase rotfruchtig, mit balsamischen und floralen Noten. Im Mund Aromen von Himbeeren und generell Waldfrüchten. Schön erdig, nebst sanfter Würze. Irgendwie roh und zugleich weich, mit präsenten, gleichwohl angenehmen Tanninen und moderater Säure. Alles gut strukturiert. Tüchtiges Volumen, kräftig aber dennoch leicht. Reizvolles Spiel mit Gegensätzen. War eine gute Empfehlung der lokalen Weinhandlung.

Deep red colour with a purple rim.
The aromas are dominated by dark red fruit, a slight bitter, spicy and dusty aroma and then a sensation of 'crushed stones'.
The palate is again dominated by dark red/black fruit - 'cool mountain fruit'..., a bitter and slightly rustique element, very mineral driven, with nice acidity and a soft palate. Soft tannic structure. Was paired with 'trofie all'amatriciana' which worked very well. This is a very nice ormeasco/dolcetto!

Black cherries, raspberries plums, garrigue/underbrush. A little influence of oak. Medium + body, more mild tannins than Dolcetto from Piemonte. Good paired with a Detroit-style pizza!

Pours a pretty deep salmon, almost amber. Fresh wild strawberries and raspberries followed by a really nice mineral/wet stone note. Velvety tannins. Great rosato that can actually take some age. Paired with fresh vegetables and bagna cauda.

Year-end "James Bond" Party (Chad's, Chuville): Another one of W's interesting Ligurian wines (Ormeasco is actually the local name for Dolcetto), this was pretty pleasant. Blinded, we all thought it was from Piedmont, with its sweet notes of blackberries and roses along with a toss of earth and spice on the nose. The palate was very drinkable, with super-fresh acidity and fine tannins racing through mid-weighted flavours of black cherries and blackberries, maybe a hint of sour plums, and some meat seasoned with prickly spice notes on the finish. A nicely balanced wine, nothing really complex, but good fun to drink at this point of its evolution. Nice.

Really fragrant, stony, dried violets, subtle black pepper, and fruit cup. Mulled white grapes. Spiced pear. Beaujolais-like in those respects but more spiced and serious. Medium body with a soft entry and very sweet fruit at mid. Black cherry and pie cherries on the long, warm finish that has moderate tannins and fresh, bright acidity. This is very easy to drink and nicely complex with a playful palate.

In der Nase heiße Weingartenerde, Meer, Hafen, frisch, eigenwillig.
Am Gaumen recht lebendig, voll und mit frischer Säure, Citrusfrüchte, Struktur trägt nicht all zu weit.
Frischer, etwas bitterer Abgang

Really lovely Dolcetto from Liguria. Reticent aromas of licorice, cherry, fennel, and blackberry. These same notes are layered in the flavors, with additional grilled herb notes emerging in the finish. What a terrific wine, fantastic with dishes that involve rosemary, fennel, anise, duck.
