2010 Domaine de la Pépière Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Clos Cormerais

Melon de Bourgogne more

Gneiss soil, old vines. Fermented and matured in wood. The oak influence is not completely overpowering, but I'm sure some people would find it obtrusive. I find this quite interesting, somewhat funky even with all these smoky aromas, but mostly in a good way. Oak is clear on the palate as well, but it's not really a problem. Not my favorite, but I'm tempted to try this with food, might do wonders. Tasted with Marc Ollivier.

Agree with the note as this is quite interesting but unconventional.

Red Blend more

Beautifully vivid red fruit with subtle oxidative nutty tones on the nose. The fruit's purity here is incredible - the palate is just loaded with elegant red fruit; cranberry, pomegranate, and sour cherry. A beautiful bottle of pinot.

3/1/2012 10:10:00 AM - It is actually the traditional Côtes du Jura blend : 1/3 Pinot Noir, 1/3 Trousseau, 1/3 Poulsard (or Ploussard).
