Pretty red fruit and flowers on the nose, the red fruit continues in the mouth and into a soft, earthy core and then a long finish on good acidity. Gentle, pretty, and the same intensity that seems to be the hallmark of the 21s, especially the single vineyards. Had this one twice now, once in a tasting of other sv 21s and again at the estate, stood out both times.

Really nice champagne at this price point. Pared well with pan fried scallops.

Sideways dude has it wrong. This is a good wine. It’s legit.

Blackberry compote and vanilla aromas. Flavor is big, juicy marionberry initially, followed by a bit of acid, oak, tobacco. Big-ish tannins. Long finish that features starts with black fruit and fades slowly.

Deep ruby, barely opaque, fast moving legs @13.5% abv. Aromas of black fruity, underbrush, leather. Dry-slightly off dry, medium acidity, medium-medium (+) tannin, medium alcohol and medium(+) body. Palate of blackberry marmelade, bitter chocolate, leather and black pepper. Balanced and tannins provide beautiful structure. Good length with bittersweet and fruit-driven finish. Classic VNdM: intriguing and hedonistic.
Well done.
Decant for at least 60 minutes.

2012 was a tough weather year but this younger Barolo is full of acidity, accessible tannins, balance and freshness. Dusty red cherries, supple leather (the kind that hugs and gently caresses the body), an earthiness and forest floor supporting a new growth of fragrant rose . This wine demanded my attention and I was more than willing to obey.

Neither the wife or I enjoyed this. Decanted for 1.5 hours. Very dense and tannic, overripe fruit, a very modern style that was overpowering. Other Chiantis are more elegant. Wouldn’t buy again. But the wine itself was well made - it had intensity of fruit and flavor - it just wasn’t to our liking.

7/8/2020 5:34:00 PM - Hi Chip I’m fully aware of the rating system but if you read my comment on the wine, this wine was one that my personally wasn’t to our taste, but we didn’t both didn’t think it was a bad quality wine per de. We just don’t like hyper modern style Chianti. So hence the rating. I realize that didn’t quite come through in the review so I’ll amend it.

Red cherries on the nose plus some savoury leathery notes
Firm, rocky, mineral and then there's some pure raspberry fruit. Really lovely. This is much more like it!

Had this first after Cascina Fontana tour, July 2018 it was good at that time cherry, high tannin, developing nicely. Left remaining bottles for 2020.
Pulled it out during Covid, to much expectation. The tannin mellowed, the flavor enhanced. Additional floral and spice notes. I don't have a cooler so my wines mature faster.

Best champagne I’ve ever had. Toasty but not overly so, lovely fine bubble mousse, quite complex (we got several different flavors, and it evolved over the evening), a bit of yeast and some sourness but not in a bad way. Most Importantly, it made all three of us smile at every sip and enjoy the last bit of bottle as much as the first. This was a notch better than the Pol Roger Brut Reserve that we had a week ago due to the complexity mainly. Wish we had more!

Absolute powerhouse from the Northern Rhone. Dark purple in the glass. Limited nose. On the palate red fruit. Very fresh and structured, but smooth. Matched excellent with our dish of chicken, potatos and olives. This can last for years on this level.

Is it corked or is it just so built it needs a minute to breath out? Tbacco and green tobacco on the nose. A bit hard and redicencent. Maybe corked.

5/29/2020 12:48:00 PM - Normally the 15 Nobile Riservas at this juncture need a lot of decant time and a bit more aging. I’ve had similar experiences with other Nobile Riservas. I have 4 of these Carpinetos and am going to wait on them a bit.

Fruit bomb, modern up-front style. None of the three of us who had it liked it. Ripe Blueberry, blackberry, and earthy. Very heavy on the alcohol. I bought four bottles based on the reviews, so maybe the other ones will get better with time.
