The wine is a medium to deep ruby red color. The very inviting nose has cassis, stony minerals, mint, black cherries, cedar, tobacco, baking spices and violets. This has medium body, moderate tannins and very good acidity. On the palate the rich cassis and spice jump out first with cedar, minerals and mint coming in later. The finish has very good length with the fruit and mint seeming to linger forever. For such a young wine, this already tastes very good. Down the road this could turn into something very special.

This wine was named the Wine of the Week on my blog. Full story at:

The is a deep ruby to purple color. The very enticing nose has blackberry liqueur, blueberries, minerals, dying wood embers, scorched earth, baking spices, violets, and a touch of vanilla. This has a fairly full body, moderate tannins and very good acidity. On the palate the dark berries and spice coat the palate slowly allowing some earthiness, minerals, and a floral note to break through. The finish is long and nicely layered. This is on the young side but it opened nicely after about 45 minutes.

The wine is a dark, opaque purple color. The stunning nose is full of crushed berries, minerals, charred meat, scorched earth, vanilla, violets and dark chocolate. This full bodied wine has fairly solid tannins and good acidity. On the palate, the wine is big and brawny but the tannins and acidity hold everything together. The initial assault on your palate is quickly reined in and held together through the long finish. As should be expected from the winery, this is not a wine for the timid or for someone looking for a subtle, nuanced wine. This will club you over the head and leave you asking for more.

The wine is a ruby red color. The alluring nose has raspberries, warm baring spices, cola, cherries, wild flowers, plums, eucalyptus, and some earthiness. This has medium body, soft tannins, and good acidity. On the palate the baking spices and fruit jump out and take hold slowly allowing a touch of eucalyptus and earthiness to break through on the back end. The finish has good length and adds some minerality to the fruit and spice.

The wine is a deep, dark purple color. The stunning nose is full of crushed blackberries, smoke, plums, dark chocolate, vanilla, minerals, black pepper, creosote, eucalyptus, Asian spices and violets. This full bodied wine has fairly solid tannins and good acidity. On the palate smoke, berries and plums hit hard slowly giving way to black pepper and vanilla with some building minerality and vanilla coming in on the back end. The long, luxurious finish has a nice mix of the fruit and savory elements with minerals closing the show. This still seems to be on the young side but this intense gem shines even today with some air.

The wine is a deep maroon color. The fairly straight forward nose has brambly berries, vanilla, black pepper, dark bittersweet chocolate, camphor, and spicy oak. This has medium to full body, moderate tannins, and good acidity. On the palate the wine seems a touch thin and driven by the oak related elements with sweet berries coming in from the sides providing needed sweetness. The finish is a touch short and again highlights the spicy oak and sweet berries. For a Rosenblum wine, this could use a bit more extraction and depth. A decent week night Zin to be consumed over the next couple of years.

The wine is a medium to deep ruby red color. The hypnotic nose has cherries, dried leafy herbs, fresh ground dark roast coffee, cedar, tobacco, cassis, dark bittersweet chocolate, baking spices and violets. This has medium body, moderate tannins and good acidity. On the palate there is a nice mix of the fruit and savory elements, with the fruit providing nice sweetness especially on the back end. The finish has very nice length but a touch of excess oak pokes through and leaves a slightly bitter closing note. Perhaps a bit more cellar time will help the remaining oak from the finish integrate. All in all, a very nice and enjoyable bottle of wine.

The wine is a fairly deep maroon color. The big and bold nose has blackberries, cherries, licorice, charred meat, roasted herbs, plums, road tar, violets, and earthy underbrush. This full bodied wine has moderate tannins and good acidity. On the palate there is very nice balance between the fruit and savory elements but a touch of the alcohol is starting to poke out on the back end. The finish has very good length but again is showing a touch of alcohol. The fruit has faded a touch over the last year so the once concealed alcohol is making an appearance. This is still very enjoyable but probably needs to be consumed over the next year before the alcohol takes over.

The wine is a deep ruby color to maroon color. The very open and inviting nose has cassis, cedar, dried herbs, tobacco, dark bittersweet chocolate, and minerals. This has medium to full body, moderate to solid tannins, and good acidity. On the palate cassis and cedar dominate the front end with dried herbs and cherry coming through later. The finish has nice length with sweet fruit and spicy oak carrying the load. This could use a bit more complexity and it may come out with some time in the cellar. That said, it is still a delicious bottle of wine.

The wine is a light to medium ruby color. The very inviting nose has cherries, raspberries, dried herbs, baking spices, black pepper, minerals and earthy underbrush. This has medium body, moderate to solid tannins and good acidity. On the palate spicy, peppery cherries and raspberries grab hold, slowly allowing some dried herbs and earthiness slip into focus. The finish had decent length with a nice mix of the fruit and savory elements. This could pass for a higher end French Cotes du Rhone.

The wine is a deep ruby red with some brick at the edge. The comforting nose has tobacco, cedar, baking spices, blackberries, wet earth, and some minerals. This has medium body, soft to moderate tannins and good acidity. On the palate the savory notes dominate with the berries adding nice sweetness. The finish has good length and again leans on the savory and earthy notes with the fruit present but playing a supporting role. This is drinking nicely but I wouldn't hold for more than another year or two before the fruit totally disappears.

This has medium body, soft tannins, and very nice acidity. On the palate, blackberries and baking spices hit first with some spicy oak and subtle earthiness coming in later. The finish has nice length with some cherry joining the picture. This probably should have been opened a couple years ago, but I still find it very enjoyable.

The finish is very long and shows nice balance between the fruit and savory elements, with a touch of sweet berries seeming to never totally fade. The wine is a light golden yellow color. The light and flowery nose has honeysuckle, peaches, apples, orange blossoms, lemon curd, and stony minerals. This is dry with medium body and decent acidity. Nice fruit and flowers on the palate with just a touch of citrus zest kicking in on the back end. The finish has nice length and shows good minerality. I would have liked a touch more acidity on the finish which seems to go a bit flat. This was much better with a cheese platter then it was on its own afterwards.

The wine is a deep, dark purple color. The deep and dark nose is full of smoldering charcoal, blackberries, roasted herbs, black pepper, dark bittersweet chocolate, well worn leather, charred meat, violets, blueberries, and some earthiness. This has a full body, moderate tannins, and good acidity. On the palate a load of peppery, smoky berries jump out first with roasted herbs and some building earthiness coming in on the backend. The finish is fairly long and leans more on the savory elements with the fruit coming in late adding nice sweetness. I think this is as good as it gets for this wine, I'd advise consuming over the next couple of years.

This has medium to full body with fairly solid tannins and very good acidity. On the palate this is rich and plush with spicy berries and minerals up front with dried herbs and spicy oak coming in on the back end. The finish is very long with the berries, dried herbs, and minerals seeming to last forever. Even though this is delicious today, it is very young and will improve with some time in the cellar.

The wine is a fairly deep maroon color. The big and fully open nose is full of cassis, licorice, warm baking spices, black pepper, leather, dried herbs, and a touch of cedar. This has medium to full body with soft, ripe tannins, and decent acidity. On the palate this is soft and jammy for a Howell Mountain wine. Big, ripe, juicy, berries and spice hit the front end of the palate coating it in flavor with dried herbs and spicy oak coming in on the backend. The finish has good length and shows jammy fruit and spice with an oaky over lay but could use some additional complexity. This is an easier drinking wine than I expected, this isn't one to stash in the cellar for an extended time.

This is a massive wine on the palate with loads of spicy, peppery berries with a nice smoked meat element followed by spicy oak and dried herbs. The finish is very long and like the palate, packed with flavor. No subtlety and not the most complex wine out there, but very balanced and tasty. Not a wine for everyone nor an everyday wine, but on occasion, this one will rock. This is still on the young side, it should improve with additional cellar time.
