10/14/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis wine is developing nicely. The dark fruits are still very prominent and powerful, although they are starting to soften a little, providing a seamless transition into the mid-palate. This is a very intense wine, with power of the fruit balanced by sultry and smokey flavours through the mid-palate. Some roasted fennel has now joined the party, providing a nice aniseed lick on the finish. The tannins are soft, and have an ultra-fine, talc like consistency and the balance is good. Very nice. |

10/21/2018 - Delectable Blue wrote: 88 pointsNot quite reaching the heady peaks of the 2015, but this is still a nice Shiraz. The blackberry and dark plum fruit are concentrated, and have a generous mouthfeel, creating good power through the palate. There is a lot going on in the mid-palate, with some herbal characters, soft spices, dark chocolate and a nice lick of spearmint through to the finish. The tannins are quite firm but taste a little raw, needing time to integrate fully, with good acidity in support. Quite a nice wine that will improve with time. |

10/24/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 86 pointsThis wine is in one of those in-between phases at the moment, having lost that initial blush of youth but without enough time for too much complexity to develop. The dark fruits still feel generous in the mouth, if not quite as intense as when young. Even though there is no great depth to the mid-palate complexity, there are a couple of very attractive notes, with lifted violets quite dominant and supported by plum pudding characters. The tannins are still firm and a little drying, backed by medium acidity. Quite nice, but needs more time. |

10/27/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 89 pointsI was a little down on this wine when I last tasted it. Maybe it was an unrepresentative bottle, but this one is much improved. The fruits are super dark and quite intense with dusty plum and black cherry fruit, far from a fruit bomb. There is now nice complexity evident, with concentrated espresso and herbal notes providing a good counterbalance to the intensity of the fruit, all wrapped in a comforting blanket of toasty oak. The tannins are still velvety and there is medium acidity in support. Very nice. |

9/22/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 94 pointsWow, what a truly delightful PM this is. It is very light bodied and delicate but still with beautiful intensity from the candied red cherry and strawberry fruit which keep pushing and pushing through the palate. The fruit flavours are seductively intertwined with red liquorice and sweet herbs to deliver a very moreish wine. The tannins are fine and are set against a playful acidity, that isn’t too racy, but gives a great textural mouthfeel. Yum, yum, yum. Easily the best PM I’ve tasted. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

9/26/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 86 pointsThis wine is technically a cool climate shiraz, but it really feels like it’s trying to be warm climate and not quite getting there. There is good intensity from the very dark fruits, but there is almost no sweetness, leaving the wine tasting a little green and underripe. The mid-palate is interesting, with marked floral highlights, including violets, even iris. The tannins are firm and backed by medium+ acidity. I suspect this will improve with age but it is a difficult proposition right at the moment. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

9/29/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 91 pointsThis was a surprising wine. There is a lot going on here. The powerful dark fruits are quite deep and concentrated. There is the merest hint of sweetness which is well balanced against a savoury mid-palate, featuring dark chocolate, |

10/3/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 89 pointsThis is an interesting shiraz. It’s strangely compelling, but not very typical. The fruits are very dark, with almost no sweetness, making this a very dry and savoury affair. The fruit have an almost vegetative character, but they are not stemmy or green. The wine is concentrated and smooth in the mouth, with the mid-palate carrying great weight with dried herbs and spices and carrying a gravelly character on the long finish. The tannins firm, with medium acidity. A very curious wine. |

10/6/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 92 pointsThere is real intensity to the fruit here, with melon and white peach flavours dominating the palate. The fruit is supported by fantastic complexity through the mid-palate for a young wine, with toffee apple, pie crust and a hint of lime zest adding a culinary aspect, and struck match and an underlying flinty minerality adding a savoury. All backed by fresh acidity. Superb. |

9/9/2018 - Delectable Blue wrote: 93 pointsWhat a treat this was. Totally transformed since my initial tasting. The rich and dark raspberry dominant fruits are starting to settle down and broaden into a beautiful river of rippling flavour, with perfumed aromatic highlights. The mid-palate is developing nicely with sweet french herbs acting as an opener, and chocolate spearmint milk on the finish. The tannins are very fine gained and supple in the mouth, with good acidity in support giving a sherbet like twang to the finish. Magical and enthralling. |

8/26/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis is developing beautifully. The dark and red berried fruit are now quite rich and have great depth but still feeling quite fresh. The mid-palate is fleshing out and has nicely layered complexity, with mixed sweet french herbs and cola flavours. There is beautiful tension between the richness of the fruit and the complexity of the mid-palate. The tannins are very supple and slightly drying, the acidity still fresh. The finish is long and highly perfumed, with raspberry and vanilla highlights. Very nice. |

7/14/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 93 pointsWow, just wow, this pinot is in an incredible place at the moment. I wasn’t really expecting this to age to any extent, but the transformation here is amazing. The bouquet is a real delight with a mix of rose potpourri and forest floor characteristics. There is a promise of sweetness from the raspberry and dark cherry fruits. Then mid palate is richly opulent, a glorious symphony of savoury spiced fruits and musk. It is deeply layered and intertwined with supple and silky tannins. Superb. |

7/15/2018 - Delectable Blue wrote: 85 pointsThe wine is tasting a little flat and one dimensional to me at the moment, probably going through a dumb phase. The vibrancy of the fruit has faded a little, with the citrus flavours dominating the palate. The secondary complexity has only just started developing, but is yet to reach prominence. There is still a strongly underpinned minerality to the wine and nice crunchy acidity. Needs time. |

2002 Grant Burge Shiraz MeshachBarossa Valley more |
7/15/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 95 pointsFinally the Meshach experience I’ve been looking for. This is rich and opulent and so beautifully and deeply layered. The dark raspberry fruits are a little faded, but still carrying an elegant power. The secondary complexity is very refined, with dark chocolate, fennel, resinous tar, volcanic rock and cigar box. The tannins are luxuriously silky and there is still some acidity apparent. Very nice. A deeply satisfying wine. |

5/16/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis is a merlot with long legs and some shapely curves. Deep garnet in colour, with an inviting nose. Rich and round in the mouth, with dark plum and mulberry fruits that are quite insistent. The mid-palate is complex and very savoury in nature, with bay leaf, fig and cedar overtones and fine grained oak lending a subtle smokiness to the finish. There is freshness courtesy of some medium acidity and the tannins are fine and supple. A very nice merlot with plenty of time left in it. |

5/13/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 93 pointsDeep magenta in colour, the nose slightly closed. The blackcurrant and blackberry fruit are fresh and vibrant, whilst remaining tight and muscular. There are mixed fresh herbs and green capsicum through the mid-palate, backed by volcanic rubble, dark chocolate and a seductive smokiness that goes on forever. The tannins are ripe but quite supple and supported by medium acidity. The wine has great purity and and length. It is still very linear in its youth, but is showing great promise. Deeply satisfying. |

3/4/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 93 pointsAnother nice Barossan cabernet. This one still in a transitionary phase. The fruit is an essay written in cassis with footnotes of blueberry. The fruit still have the sweetness of their youth, but the intensity has waned a little since first tasting. However the mid-palate is starting to fill out, with earthy tones of black olive and bramble adding nicely to a backdrop of nutmeg and liquorice. The oak is integrating nicely, with a smoky note added to the long finish. Very nice, but should improve with time. |

3/3/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 94 pointsPale gold in colour, with a hint of green on the margins. The nose is inviting, with ripe stone fruit and cream. The palate is exceptionally rich with a slight oiliness to the mouthfeel. The mid-palate complexity is quite exquisite, something to really savour. The flavours are dominated by pie crust, caramel-cream, baking spice and candied pineapple, underpinned by a fine quartz minerality. There is an ethereal smokiness on the finish that lingers and lingers. A deeply satisfying wine. |

1/26/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 93 pointsHappy Australia Day! This is a quality pinot. Its class and elegance apparent from first sip. The nose is highly perfumed and alluring, inviting deeper inspection. The black cherry fruit are slightly sweet and beautifully detailed and layered. The tannins are fine and sensuous, and deeply entwined through a herbal and savoury mid-palate. There is spicy fresh fennel, clove and just a hint of stalky bitterness, all in perfect balance. The finish is very long and quite intense. Just beautiful. |

12/26/2017 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 91 pointsA shiraz from the Coal river vineyard. The wine is very aromatic, but quite unusual, with florals and nutty aromas dominant. The wine is surprisingly medium bodied, almost light bodied, but is beautifully layered and textured. The fruits are dark and are nicely layered against a deeply savoury and highly textured mid-palate. The tannins are exceptionally supply and silky in the mouth, and the finish is quite extended. Very nice. |

12/25/2017 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 89 pointsThe Reveur spends 21 months on oak, resulting in lifted vanillan notes on the nose and through the palate. The fruits are darker, and tighter and quite muscular in nature. There is good depth and nicely layered complexity through the mid-palate. The tannins are silky and supple and the wine has a nice long finish. Very nice. |

2/11/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 91 pointsThis is an impressive, if young, cabernet. The blackcurrant and blackberry fruit are rich, intense and quite insistent in the mouth, without being overly sweet. The mid-palate is dense and complex, with fresh french herbs, baking spice, dark chocolate, and dried fig. The tannins are still quite muscular, but not overly drying, and provide great structure, along with good acidity. The finish is long and refined. A very impressive debut for this youngster. |

2/24/2018 - Delectable Blue Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis cabernet is in a nice place at the moment. When first tasted, the wine was a little sweet, but that initial sweetness of the blackberry and cassis fruit has faded slightly and has given way to a beautiful, violet laced and deeply herbal mid-palate. There is a nice lick of fennel along with lashings fresh sweet french herbs. The tannins are fine and talc like, and slightly drying in the mouth. The balance is good and the oak is integrating nicely. The work yummy comes to mind - repeatedly. |

1/15/2018 - Delectable Blue wrote: 82 pointsA wine from the fabled 2014 Hunter Valley vintage. I tasted this as a young wine and was impressed by it. However at the moment it’s not really pressing my buttons. The wine is presenting as a fruit-bomb, dominated by sweet black cherry and raspberry fruits. The mid-palate feels a little hollow, and lacks any significant complexity, leading to a wine that just feels unbalanced. On a positive note, the tannins are quite velvety, and there is a nice lick of vanillan oak on the finish. Hoping for improvement. |
