4/15/2024 - daver852 Likes this wine: 88 pointsA kind of middle of the road Chardonnay, neither buttery nor overly oaked. Dry, high acidity, light color and faint nose. Medium bodied, smooth moderate finish. Very good for its price range. |

2/26/2024 - daver852 wrote: 87 pointsDid not give this a good review a year ago. But I tried it again, and think I was too harsh. Light nose of dark fruit, more dark fruit on the palate, fair amount of tannin and oak. Rather short finish. Lacks the complexity of a better Cabernet, but easy to drink and not bad at all, especially at around $8 or $9 a bottle. |

2/25/2024 - daver852 wrote: 84 pointsWell . . . not too impressed. Medium color, cotton candy nose. Very fruity (cherry, black cherry?) with high tannins and moderate acidity. Almost jammy on the palate. There is some bitterness on the finish. You can certainly do better in this price range. |

2/24/2024 - daver852 wrote: 87 pointsNot bad, really. Faint, but attractive, nose. Rather soft on the palate, with lots of blackberry and dark fruit, fairly tannic, seems to have a bit of oak in the flavor profile. Some spice and earthiness as well. Nice sipping wine. Exceeded my expectations. |

2021 J. Lohr Chardonnay Arroyo VistaArroyo Seco more |
2/14/2024 - daver852 Likes this wine: 89 pointsTook an hour or two to open up. Faint, but pleasant, nose. Medium golden color. Very high acidity dominates the fruity, oaky body. Nice finish. Food wine, would not drink on its own. Needs something to play against. Very good structure, will last for a while, and may even improve. Nice effort. |

2/14/2024 - daver852 wrote: 87 pointsWell, it's drinkable, but very ordinary and not memorable. Tastes like a typical $10 Cali Cab, i.e., light, not offensive, just sort of out there. Better wines at this price - but a lot of worse ones as well! |

1/30/2024 - daver852 Likes this wine: 93 pointsThis is very, very good! Dark color, exceptional nose with lots of black currant, oak, cigar box, and blackberry. A little soft on the palate, but lashings of dark fruit, acidity, and mild tannins. Smooth finish. I think this may continue to improve for a couple of years. Really liked this. Would buy again, and highly recommend. |

1/9/2024 - daver852 Likes this wine: 91 pointsVery dark color. Typical, if rather faint, Bordeaux nose. Surprisingly light on the palate; dark fruit, cigar box, etc., but lots of mineral notes. Not a lot of depth or power, but very balanced, smooth, and elegant. Classy stuff. And built to last, |

12/30/2023 - daver852 wrote: 87 pointsMedium color. very fragrant nose. Lots of dark fruit and a little oak. Medium-bodied with some dark fruit, and a bit of an earthy character. Moderate finish. This wine is very dry and a bit austere. Probably better with food than on its own. Quite drinkable, if not especially distinguished. |

2015 Château Saint-HubertSt. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend more |
12/25/2023 - daver852 Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis wine has a very dark color, and an appealing nose. Oak and dark fruit. Surprisingly light bodied, with only moderate depth. But it is well-balanced and elegant. Smooth, long finish. This wine exudes class. You will look long and hard to find a better Bordeaux for under $20. Furthermore, it is still very young and vigorous, and may even show improvement with a few more years of aging. Highly recommend. |

12/3/2023 - daver852 Likes this wine: 88 pointsThis is actually quite good. Lots of black fruit and a little oak on the nose. Fairly soft on the palate. Nice, soft finish. Better than most middle shelf grocery store Cabs. Good value in its class. |

4/17/2023 - daver852 Likes this wine: 91 pointsWell-made, lovely wine. Dark color and very attractive nose; lots of fruit and a little spice. Rather soft on the palate, but rich mouthfeel with an abundance of dark fruit and some earthy notes. Not a lot of oak. Acidity is adequate, and the finish is very smooth, and lingers a bit. Good depth and fine varietal character. Good value. This is steak wine. Think it will last a few more years. |

4/15/2023 - daver852 Likes this wine: 89 pointsExcellent. Knock Kendall-Jackson if you will, but they make very good wine at fair prices. This is no exception. Dark color, a bit of oak and berry in the nose. On the palate, there's decent depth and quite a bit of oak; dark fruit and assertive tannins. A bit of heat on the finish, along with more oak. Dry and not too soft. Really, this tastes like more than a $20 wine. Should keep for a while, too. |

4/8/2023 - daver852 Likes this wine: 89 points"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." When I tasted this two years ago, I didn't like it at all. Perhaps I got a bad bottle last time, or maybe the additional time in the bottle has improved it. It has a very oaky nose, and oak is also prominent on the palate. Fairly soft, lots of dark fruit, smooth finish. A little hot on the end. A very nice Cali Cab. |

4/4/2023 - daver852 Does not like this wine: 83 pointsVery dark color; faint nose. Some dark fruit on the palate, little oak. Soft tannins. A bit hot on the finish. Not terrible, but incredibly one-dimensional. There's just not much there. I've tried three vintages of this wine, and did not like any of them. It certainly doesn't command any sort of premium price. The best thing about it is the really cool bottle! |
