Was surprised by the very low rating from Parker, but while not a great wine, it was quite enjoyable and very much representative of Cote Rotie. Lacks complexity, but nice hints of leather and tobacco on the nose along with well-resolved fruit, maybe plum and rhubarb. Pleasant on the palate, but not a big finish. |

Yes, there is jammy fruit on the nose, not atypical for a California (73% Napa, 27% Sonoma) cuvee. I get blueberries, modest hint of cocoa, and a slight vegetal note. On the palate, it is quite drinkable with more dark fruit, reasonably well-resolved tannins (especially for its youth), and notes of pie crust. Nice acidity as well. Very enjoyable for a Tuesday night watching Blues hockey - LGB!!!! |
