Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend more

We took a bottle of this (one of 4 left in the cellar from a case bought on futures) to our favorite local restaurant. Opened and decanted in front of us, it was bad. It was lacking in aroma and fruit with a somewhat sharp, almost vinegary edge. There was no sign of seepage around the cork. How disappointing. This has always been one of my favorite chateaux. I'll open the next one at home and hope for a better result.

Opened the last bottle of a case for my wife's birthday. Beautiful...the wine and the wife. Very smooth, subtle complexity....the wine and the wife.

Good, not memorable, claret that is too expensive for what is, but with some classic notes/flavors. No need to seek this out, but it does the trick if you really need some solid Bordeaux with age that tastes not like a horse stable.

Delightful wine. Paired well with beef but will do well with cheese or hors d’oeuvres. Low tannin and fully developed. We have one more bottle and should be opened in next year.

I don´t agree with others on this site. This is a lovely Bordeaux just in the right time to drink. The nose is fantastic and the taste is perfect match to lambchops. Sorry that I only have one bottle.

Drew a good sized glass with Coravin to enjoy with dinner tonight.
Some blackberry and cassis along with forest floor notes.
A very enjoyable pairing with marinated steak.
Needs time to breath and gain complexity.
A big improvement from the bottle drank 2 years ago.

The first impression is of great intense Cabernet Cassis and then the wine crushes with very powerful tannins. This is certainly a wine for the cellar. Full-bodied and very rich, but that hard frame of tannins are always present.
$79.99 OH Retail.

Glass decanted for half an hour. Not much going on with this wine for me. The fruit, black currants and plums, is restrained, taut, and muted, bordering on the austere. It seems in balance now, but it's hard to tell whether the wine is just in a quiet phase or whether longer cellar time will improve it. Lovely deep purple color, though. Nice enough wine but nothing special.

As a postscript, the wine was smoother after two days, but still subdued. Maybe a longer decant at the outset is indicated.

Has matured well. Balanced and quietly expressive. Not overly complex. Hard to foresee whether further aging will materially improve it.

Almost 20 years of age for this 5th growth estate run by the Lurton family. Sitting next door to Ch. Latour, this Pauillac estate has famous neighbours. Limestone soil brings a stone like minerality to the wine. There’s baking spice, dried or burnt oak, tight liquorish and some subtle aniseed and perhaps even mint. Fruit is predominantly blackcurrant. Soft tannins and a medium finish. Medium bodied.

Beautiful nose on this right upon opening the bottle. On the palate, a bit thinner and less exciting, but still pretty nice - some leather tones.

Quite underwhelming, considering the vintage. Pleasant, some sweetness, not a lot of depth.

Nice red color, no sign of aging. Well balanced. Dark red fruit on palate.

Drinking well. Would benefit of more cellar time.

Drinking very well since last note, but losing a little bit of firmness. Will drink 5 remaining bottles in next 12 months.

Double decanted a few hours early and then Decanted 30 mins before dinner. Excellent nose and palate with aged dark fruit, forest floor, leather and classic Bordeaux must. Very nicely aired with steak au poirve and rosemary potatoes.

Bibendum Bordeaux tasting (Lord's Cricket Ground - London): Powerful nose, firm fruits, good oak, silky and velvety on the palate. Quite raw, and energetic with crunchy black and red fruit. Maybe some violets and pencil lead. This is very young and in keeping with the vintage has many years before it is ready for the dinner table. Lock this one up till it comes of age. At least another 5years. 91+
