4/10/2005 - winestem wrote: 90 pointsOpened and vigorously decanted for about 15 minutes. Color was a deep garnet/purple with a beautiful bouquet of dark fruits. The wine tasted of plums, chocolate with a little licorice thrown in as spice. The finish was impressive and lasted 30 seconds. Nicely integrated oak keeps in the background. Significant tannins that say "I'm not ready to drink yet!" After an hour, the wine was even more structured and approachable. Little question that this is meant for the long term. I was very impressed! |

11/2/2006 - winestem wrote: 85 pointsWhat a difference between the first bottle I had and this one. This was light-bodied, somewhat astringent, nothing in the way of a finish. Disjointed and unappealing. Didn't improve over the course of dinner. |

2/5/2010 - winestem wrote: 92 pointsReally a beautiful bottle. I thought as I removed the plastic cork that I would be disappointed, so what a surprise it was to pour it, sip it and taste loads of dark chocolate, dark red fruits interspersed with hints of oak. A nice finish, incredible deep color all said that this wine was no where near the end of its life. As I've been very critical of B&H wines sealed with the plastic cork the past few year, this was another welcome exception. |

2/20/2022 - winestem Likes this wine: 92 pointsA great surprise—at least to me! I expected this 20 year old wine to have started bricking and lightening in body. But no such things happened. Lovely dark and deep purple color, cassis and plenty of tannin. This wine drank more as an adolescent than an adult. |

4/4/2020 - winestem Likes this wine: 94 pointsStill amazing after all these years. Kept in a colder cellar with temp closet to 50 than to 55, color is still amazing dark purple, fruit still there in abundance, and the finish still there to remind you there’s plenty of life yet! Sadly, my last bottle. |
