This is consummate Oakville Napa Valley Cab Sauv , offering a glimpse of finely crafted and dedicated winemaking by the folks at Rudius. A perfectly executed project in combining all facets of dark fruit nuances , in particular black cherry and plum with a balanced array of kitchen savory spices, violet leaf . leather and quarry stone notes on the palette. Almost an endless study of black cherry evolution and impressive from start to finish. An example of a Napa wine in the $125 plus retail price range , more interested in genuinely showing its quality as a exemplary wine than pretense of being something even remotely great at a lofty price tag. |

A blend of their single vineyard cabernets - Savory Estate and Kaley Vineyard. Dark ruby fruit - dark cherry and red/black currants. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and decent depth/concentration - medium/medium plus body. Nice vibrant flavors of dark berries, some spice, and a mineral/graphite component. Decent finish but not overly long nor deep and a little tart - a little bing cherry that should resolve itself with more time. Decanted for two hours and drank over a couple mire. Improved a little with time. I believe another year or two should be beneficial to let it soften/open-up some more. 100% cab. |

I like what this could become but right now it is still in hiding. Needs time to soften and open up. |

Needed a full 4 hours to completely open but when it did...YES! Still young but one of the better premium (I don't get to buy Harlan, Screaming Eagle or any other $500 plus extravagant use of savings but will travel if a CT'er is willing to open one with me!!!) wines of this vintage. Should continue to improve. Sad to see Jeff have to end Rudius -- awesome wines at great price points. Rudius will be missed! |

Can tell that there's good stuff in there when it matures a bit more. It's dark with dark and earthy flavors and really good structure supporting it. |
