The palate continues in the lightweight vein with mild melon flavours, quite large, lively bubbles and not much development yet. Disgorged fairly recently, I’d guess. Seemed to sit a bit on the front palate and finished medium length. I was a bit underwhelmed, but I think this just needs more time.

2014 Maison Mumm RSRV Blanc de Blancs Brut Grand Cru was refreshing and joyful to drink. The youthful vintage Champagne was clear and pale lemon in colour with persistent, delicate effervescence. Aromas of green apple, golden pear and white blossom were accompanied by honey and biscuit.

The high level of salivating acidity, together with the brut dryness and relatively light-bodied mouthfeel made fantastic pairing with light seafood dishes. There were flavours of apple puree, lemon zest, pineapple and saline minerals in a rather long refined finish. The alcohol level was at 12%. The empty bottle weighed 877 grams.

From the information on the wine labels, the Chardonnay grapes were sourced from the Cremant village on the Côte des Blancs slope, which is latter classified as a Grand Cru. Its marketing gimmick relies on a sense of exclusivity that it was traditionally only reserved for the friends of the Champagnge house and gastronomy chef, and is now accessible to few Champange connoisseurs. The sparkler was bottled in June 2015, and disgorged in December 2018.

Very solid blanc de blanc, creamy mouthfeel, great balance between citrus fruits, autolytic notes, and minerality, the chalky note is especially distinct. Great to pair with oysters, charcuterie, even simple grilled pork with herbs. Drink now.

Nose: Subtle notes of apple 88
taste: Fruits (yellow/green apple, notes of citrus), with refreshing acidic (low dosage?)kick. 89
Decent QPR.
Would recommend a crowd pleaser at reasonable price point.

The wine shows warmth, earthy and ripe profile, ripe citrus and grapefruit, lemon, yeast, nice oak frame .

Bra matchampagne, rätt mycket karaktär. Lite källardoft och örtighet, möjligtvis citrongräs, i smak. Funkade till förrätt med kammussla och huvudrätt med sotad röding och musselveloute.

Color is pale to medium yellow with nice fine bubbles. On the nose, stones, salinity, seashells, white flowers, red berries (e.g. cranberries), and some red apples - a good amount of fruit. After a bit of time open, the red berries really leap out of the glass with lots of red apples as well. Feels quite typical of a BdN. On the palate, more of the same - some citrus, apricot, a good amount of red fruits like red berries and red apple along with some seashells, yeast, and toasted brioche. Good mouthfeel, medium plus body, with quite high acidity. Quite good and quite fresh - but you could do better for the price of this bottle. A bit short on the finish though. To me, this feels quite muted and lacks complexity at this time. Perhaps it is shut down. I let this breathe for over 12 hours and it never really came to life. I would not touch these for another couple of years. Maybe time will help this wine.

G.H. Mumm tasting (Oinoscent): The wine shows a heavier profile in the nose, filled with ripe fruit and yeast notes, nutty, citrus and oak.
The wine is more on the citrus-pear-green apple side, with high acidity, creamy, a lot of carbonation, grapefruit bitterness, long elegant finish.

This is a blend of 72pc Pinot but I would not have picked it. Very fresh and citrus driven. Relatively gentle bubbles. Crisp acidity. A bit simple now- the question is, will time enhance it? Good value on sale from Carrefour at €28.

Not so much on the nose at first, sweet and buttery tones and after a while red apples and fresh citrus. Medium dry, still fresh and high acidity. Very much Granny Smith apples and sweet lemons. Medium long finish, nice and sweet with a hint of roasted coco nuts. Overall not so complex and might not improve with ageing.
