Perfect accompaniment at a raclette dinner. All kinds of savoury, nutty, saline flavours around a core of ripe white fruit. Love this - it’s got the richness and fruit of a good white Burg matched with the savoury salinity/oxidation of a good sherry. No shortage of acidity here either, which makes it a perfect foil for the rich raclette.

Breathtaking - aromas of candied orange peel and walnut caramel, earthy pollen and a rusty lick of powdered ginger wrapped around a core of whiskery acidity that kept it feeling extraordinarily fresh. A really beautiful example.

Really very like a slightly less bone-dry Manzanilla: so yeasty, so salty, so good with Comte. Citrically tongue-tickling, and made for a great change of pace.

Typical oxidized notes that you would expect from this producer. Took a minute for the acid to come though. But finished nicely

Under the management of Nicole Derriaux, this domain was mainly known for its excellent oxidative Sherry-like wines. Under the impetus of the new generation this is their first Savagnin with “Ouillage” and the best one in that style (which is sometimes quite strict and austère) I drank so far. This wine has been vinified (fermentation and aging) in 100% oak barriques for 2 years, with regular refilling to compensate for evaporation.
Beautiful bright lemon-peel color and, as mentioned by a previous taster, a fascinating bouquet which is difficult to describe, completely different from a buttery Chardonnay: a bit exotic-spicy with a touch of pineapple and lychee.
Similar characteristics on the palate with ripe lime, a touch of pineapple, even some tamarind and a wonderfully spicy acidity, Savagnin as I have never experienced before.
This wine bodes well for the future of this domain although I hope that the tradition of the fascinating oxidative wines, I am so fond of, will be continued.
At 16,00€ this is a bargain!

Blackberry Farm Cheese and Wine tasting (The lovely East Tennessee mountains): Wine and cheese tasting in the cellar @ Blackberry Farm. In oak for three years and not topped off to increase concentration. Gold color. Nose is alcohol (spiked butterscotch?). 88 without cheese, 90 when paired with French cow's milk cheese. 14.5% ABV. PNP into Riedel Yoichi glass (“Fruit” day): Deep golden to the eyes.

Clear oxidative nuances, ripe stone fruits like apricots, savory, charred herbs, umami, caramel glaze.

Vin jaune style with a very nice fruit concentration of black sugar, soft touch on the finish.

Only concern for me is the slightly higher than expected alcohol level here although this is well balanced on palate in my view. 94 points.

Nice Jura chard. Fully ripe now, it is fresh with a bit of filling, nice to go with fish dishes or the like. A faint hint of oxydation on the back-end of the finish places this wine firmly in the Jura tradition. Probably best to drink up in the next year and a half.

Can’t say I agree with the other tasting note. While this is a vin ouillé, it clearly shows that it comes from a cellar where all other whites are made sous voile. There’s plenty of acidity and fruit, but it’s muddled by a bit of fino character, which isn’t really in place. Weird wine but decent enough.

This wine comes from the oldest plot of the domain planted in 1930 with mainly Chardonnay and only a few vines of Poulsard and Savagnin. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged for a while in large wooden vats, after which it is transferred to classic 228l barriques, which are completely filled but not topped afterwards. This explains the rather modest oxidative character of this wine.
Golden yellow color with a slight cloudiness, buttery Chardonnay nose with only modest oxidative aromas of nuts and curry followed by a soft supple taste with a slight lack of acidity, probably as a result of the hot vintage. This is a pleasant, easy-drinking wine from this high-quality domain and good QPR at 14,00€ (in 2020) directly from the domain.
Diam cork, which (I think) is a new initiative at this domain.

terrific oxidative wine; nice mouthful of lemon, salt, and nuts. great balance, and acidity. Coravined (with difficulty!), and drank over 3 weeks.

On a different note, this was my first Vin Jaune; I loved it. But as a (sometimes) sherry drinker, I can see how the price point difference with other oxidative drinks can be a bit jarring to those coming to this from sherry. But the scarcity, cost for aging, and consumer demands are very different between much smaller Jura, and Cadiz/Jerez sherry triangle. if anything, most people lament that great sherry should cost more!

Quality for the price is through the roof. Of course you have to like an oxidative flor tinged style. but give me the sherry any day, so i love this. For around 25 USD, it really goes above and beyond.
toasted cashews, yellow flowers, vanilla pastries, orange peel. the finish lasts for so so long, and comes strong with a mango note that I only see there.
Will be getting more

Drank this wine over 4 night, very enjoyable altogether.
Nutty nose, a little Fino saltiness.
On the palate it has a great freshness with good acidity but also nice balance.
Has a good flow and its quite drink animating.

I don’t have much to add to my previous note. A fantastic wine for lovers of this oxidative Sherry-like style, bone-dry and almost indestructible. As locals state: this is a wine to be bought by the first generation, to be cellared by the second and to be drunk by the third and subsequent generations. A fantastic match wih old Comté an similar cheeses.

Light, aromatic, fruity, a bit funky -- classic "pulsar". Comes from L’Etoile, but since the appellation is exclusive to white grapes, we get the “Côtes du Jura” classification here. Not my favorite grape but technically well done.

While a nice wine, it didn't quite live up to my admittedly high expectations for this domaine.
While I don't have any issues with the hue of a vin jaune, this is clearly a little too evolved for a 5+ year old table wine.
Having said that, it made for a very nice dinner wine. I just believe that it fell a little short in terms of length and complexity; perhaps a challenging vintage...

A very good oxidative wine from this reliable domain in the Jura subappellation L’Etoile. The grapes come from a vineyard complanted with 50% each of Chardonnay and Savagnin. Golden yellow color and the typical bouquet and taste of this type of wine: aldehydes, curry and walnuts wth a long fresh final. Not for everybody, but tasters who like good Fino Sherry wll be enthousiastic with this wine. I totally agree with Tony Ling’s note and this wine is indeed very food friendly. It is already perfectly drinkable and will last for at least 10 years. Purchased directly from the domain at 16,50€ this is a real bargain.

Drank over ten days. Honestly best after a week of being opened.

Definitely some curry, bruised apple and bruised pineapple, toasted nuts, good bit of white florals.

Palate is pretty tropical and fresh with that nuttiness and florals.

With days of air it melds into this state where the oxidation isn’t as in your face and integrates and just makes a really pretty, fun wine to drink.

Had it with some 30month aged Comte the last couple nights, delicious.
