Medium red color, decanted an hour before dinner, 2-3 hours would have been better, nose of mixed cherries and dark plum, dense fruit on palate, balance was perfect, a bit of earth & spice but fruit dominant, long-ish smooth finish. Had with pan roasted poussin.

Tasting this from a blind sample set of 10, I was confident this was the Tatiarra Shiraz because it tastes very much like the 2004 vintage that I tasted recently. The distinctive feature is an apple-skin flavor that is uncommon in red wine. This wine also has pronounced aromas from aging, reminiscent of leather, and just a hint of black pepper. Unlike many Shirazes (and new world wines generally), this wine has a definite structure with refreshing acidity and significant tannins; it is not just a sweet mouthful of ripe black fruit. But this wine also doesn't taste anything like Northern Rhone wines either. This is definitely worth trying.

I liked it more than last time. It was much smoother than I expected it would be and I was surprised it came across so mellow - like a grenache without any herb taste. 90+

Tasted from magnum. Medium-lemon core. Shy nose of lemon, lime and mint, showing a bit of age. Fairly round and rich for Muscadet. Not showing very much by way of fruit (mostly lemon and grape). The acidity is balanced. Lacks some of the freshness and crispness of young Muscadet, and signs of age are showing on the finish. Drink up.

Update: Taking Fitzi's advice to heart, I re-tasted this after about 18 hours in the decanter. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the slightly oxidative notes had disappeared, and in fact some of the salinity and crispness of young Muscadet had re-emerged. Based on this, I would agree that the wine merits a higher score (I have adjusted my rating accordingly), and there is no rush to drink this. Still, having had very mixed results aging the 2005s for more than 10 years , I would be cautious about going too long on this. As an aside, I would love to be proved wrong about the age-ability of top Muscadet, as they represent tremendous value.

Deep ruby, leaning toward purple color. Medium intensity nose with developing aromas of black fruits, blackberry, granite and tropical spice notes. Dry, medium acidity and medium minus tannins. Tightly wound on the palate this wine needs some time to open up. Great wine for the money.
