2014 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

With a signature Mike Smith approachability in its youth, this remarkable entry level Napa Cabernet will knock the socks off many of its competitors who are double the price. A blend of five pedigreed vineyards picked exclusively to produce this perfect showcase of Napa Valley head to toe. It has strength, stunningly rich viscosity and fragrant notes of blackcurrants, blackberries, vanilla, graphite and spring flowers. It exhibits a rich opaque purple color, is full-bodied and has a massive mouth feel that flawlessly integrates the acidity and plush tannins. As our proprietary Cabernet, this is the perfect wine to enjoy while waiting for our single vineyard Cabernets to hit their stride. Enjoy now and over the next 5-7 years

11/9/2012 3:39:00 PM - I'm sorry, you must have been drinking a bad bottle. This is a fantastic Zin; so drinkable and well balanced. Tasted on 2 occasions this year and bought half case it was so good at the tasting and continues to be so at home. I'm recommending to all my winer friends who appreciate good wine at a reasonable price.

Earthy, dark berry, spicy nose with all of this on the palate with very long pleasurable finish. Loved it!

11/9/2012 3:35:00 PM - Originally tasted this in July and again this November and I'm in total agreement with Thistleb. One of the best Zin's in Napa Valley. Bought 1/2 case and hope I don't regret not getting more.

Monday afternoon with Mike Smith (Envy Cellars, Calistoga): This was a WOW wine for me as was the 2009 but this one outdid its older sibling. Seamless from nose to finish this is a hedonistic wine that just does not give in. Luscious nose of dark fruit, anise, red meat and smoke. Mouth is an explosion of black fruits, dark chocolate and spice. This was the only wine I did not pour out because it was just that good. Mike Grammer was right about this one when he said I'd probably like it.

You're right on totally. I also tasted with Mike this past weekend. Amazing wine, but it is Beckstoffer...it should be. Mike did a great job bringing all of the vineyard qualities. This is 94 on my scale.

Tasted at the Envy Tasting Room. A bit tight on the nose at first, it comes on with graphite, cassis and tobacco leaf. Layered flavors on the palate- creme de cassis, tea, leather, tobacco, blueberry, blackberry and spice. Full bodied and velvety in feel and tannin. Full finish with notes of red fruit. Very nice.

11/9/2012 3:00:00 PM - Also tasted at Envy with Mike Smith the owner/winemaker. Very interesting guy making some really really good wines. I agree with Matt's comments wholeheartedly. 90-92 points
