2018 Brokenwood SémillonHunter Valley more |
7/12/2020 - Jzizzle Likes this wine: 90 pointsI've not had that much sémillon, so take score with grain of salt. This is intense with ripping lime acidity, also some melon rind and other 'green' (I'm supposed to say green fig--ok) flavours. On first sip this is not necessarily pleasant, but there is definitely reward in savouring the unique flavour further. So, something extra there, though at a young age, the is is also just nice and tart. Looking forward to seeing what age does to this...

2013 Mendel MalbecMendoza more |
5/9/2020 - Jzizzle Likes this wine: 91 pointsReally nice. This is balanced and elegant. The dark fruit, mild wood spice, relaxed tannins with hint of cocoa all pressed together. Not sure Argentina Malbec would be my first guess blind. this has heft without feeling heavy.
