2016 Château GloriaSt. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend more |
1/4/2024 - jpkc Likes this wine: 92 points1st bottle, PnP, surprisingly drinkable upon opening, didn't decant, drank over 4hr. Dark fruits, medium acidity, lots of sediment. Short life, drink up??? Not what I was expecting. |

8/25/2022 - Wine Diplomats Likes this wine: 90 pointsInteresting history to this vineyard. The French philosopher Montesquieu, who is known for developing the idea of separation of powers in government, owned it in the 18th century. 78% Merlot, 12% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from their estate in Martillac, where they have more clay and limestone soils to grow Merlot. 33% new oak. Splash decant. Nose dominated by oak notes but generally well-integrated. Spice, tobacco, cedar, chocolate. A touch of earthiness and minerality. Palate is approachable with soft tannins, juicy fruit, good acidity with the oak, savory notes on the back end. There are noticeable tannins without food but on the softer side. Still would wait around 4+ years to reach its peak integration of oak and develop tertiary notes, but the tannins are approachable now especially with food. It was only $16 en primeur. 90+

4/7/2023 - jpkc Likes this wine: NRSaint-Bris is from the Burgundy region, made from Sauvignon Blanc and Gris, drinking nicely, great QPR at $12, not a frequent white drinker so no #rating

2016 Château Lilian LadouysSt. Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend more |
12/9/2022 - jpkc Likes this wine: 89 pointsDrinking nicely, decanting unnecessary as tannins have calmed, no sediment but some tartrate crystals, nice acidity, fruit seems to be weakening, drink up, I'll be suppressed if it has another 10 years, 89

5/29/2022 - coal9 Likes this wine: 89 pointsI opened this one evening and let it breathe in the bottle for a few hours. Since it was still tight, I vacuum pumped it, and tried it again the following night, after another 30 minutes breathing in the bottle. It was too young to fully enjoy now, but it has very good potential. I recommend laying it down at least 1 to 2 years. The blend was smooth with solid tannins; also good balance and structure. Almost full-bodied with a medium finish. I found its terroir quite distinctive compared to bordeaux, perhaps a bit more rustic. I was impressed enough to go buy another bottle to lay down.

2018 Château Vrai Canon BouchéCanon-Fronsac Red Bordeaux Blend more |
1/21/2022 - La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis opaque ruby blend of 55% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Franc and 4% Malbec was Vinturi-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours. Beautifully aromatic and equally flavorful, it delivers a luscious package of blackcurrant and black cherry fruit that is flanked with licorice, exotic spices, graphite and cocoa. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic and with nicely integrated alcohol (listed as 14.5%), it deftly weaves its silky tannins and toasted oak into the milieu. The middle palate is layered and the finish is impressively long. This is an excellent example of how a great vintage in Bordeaux floats all boats, even the more humble châteaux. This is already drinkable when given an hour in decanter, and it should easily reach its fifteenth birthday with grace. Drink now-2033.
