Initially a bit of barnyard on the nose that gradually disappeared with time and air. Red licorice, blueberry emerged on the nose as the brett notes faded away, with hints of smoke and dark chocolate. Oak and (the allegedly only 14.5%) alcohol well-integrated at this point. Velvety tannins gradually evolved to a smoother silky texture, light lingering acidity. Lovely pure blueberry fruit notes dominated the palate, with notes of leather, spicy pepper and pomegranate. Slightly drying finish was a bit short. |

7/15/2023 - VlgJeff Likes this wine: 92 pointsDecanted for 20 minutes (but continued to improve) with some slight sediment. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon; 26% Petit Verdot; and 24% Syrah. The color was a deep dark ruby to a faded rim. There were dark fruits, spice and earth on the nose. The medium to plus bodied palate showed lots of dark red fruit, some blue fruit, lots of spice, some pepper, some earth, a touch of tannin and nicely balancing acidity -- and no evidence of the 16.2% abv. This wine may continue to please for several years to come. |
