13% alcohol. Diam5 closure, pretty long. Pale golden colour with a luminous quality.
The nose is vivid with white flowers, yellow plum and some lanolin. Similarly balanced in the mouth with just a hint of opulence counterbalanced by vg grip and excellent acidity; there is quite a lot going on here. A model of Chalonnais Chardonnay, especially given the warm vintage.

A very enjoyable white Burgundy from the Côte Chalonaise, certainly worth its 30,00€. A nutty bouquet with a pleasant touch of new oak and on the palate bone-dry with an astonishing freshness for this hot vintage. A perfect companion for to night’s fried ling. It can certainly be cellared for several years, but is, in my opinion, completely ready to drink.
Diam cork.

13% alcohol. Diam5 closure, as dense as ever. The colour is light gold.
Yellow flowers on the nose as well as a touch of sweat (in a pleasant way). The mouth is very vivid with barely a sign of buttery notes and notes of honey counterbalanced by substantial acidity. Very satisfactory and not in any way overblown, vintage notwithstanding.
In perfect condition, and looks like it might improve over the next few years (five?).

13.5% alcohol. Superb cork of reasonable length. Rich golden colour.
The nose is very satisfying, mixing floral aromas with ripe yellow plum and very discreet notes of élevage; very classy. Barely half a notch behind in the mouth, with fresh apple and excellent balance including perfectly judged acidity; neither lean nor bloated.
A magnificent match for live prawns (well we did not eat them alive...).

Light, perfumed, red cherry and rose petal. Lively palate, sour cherry and wild strawberry with mineral acidity and a tart, slightly vegetal finish. Fine, pleasing, food needed.

45 minutes of air prior to tasting.

Medium ruby color, tobacco and tar nose.
Lots of dark fruit, with lots of spice box notes. There is still some significant tannic structure, but this bottle is not quite as charming as prior ones. Good, not great.

100% Aligoté Doré from a 0,83-hectare parcel planted in 1937. Fermented and aged for 12 months in old oak barrels. 12,5% alcohol.

Pale lemon-yellow color. Ripe, sweetish and wonderfully fine-tuned nose with aromas of sweet golden apples, some creamy oak tones, a little bit of stony minerality, light primary notes of peach candies, a hint of chopped aromatic herbs and a faint touch of something vaguely plastic. The wine feels firm, lively and ripe yet dry on the palate with a medium body and quite acid-driven flavors of juicy citrus fruits and fresh golden apples, some mineral spice and saline nuances, a little bit of creamy oak character, light sweeter notes of ripe yellow fruits, a hint of incisive steeliness and a touch of apple peel bitterness. The bright, focused acidity lends great sense of structure to the wine while adding a little bit of emphasis to the bitter overtones. The palate-cleansing finish is ripe yet dry with a rather long aftertaste of lemony citrus fruits and fresh golden apples, some creamy and even subtly buttery oak tones, a little bit of sweet greengage, light herby nuances, a hint of apple peel bitterness and a touch of saline twang.

A tasty, balanced and very slightly evolved Aligoté that is still very fresh, spry and youthful, but is also starting to show the first signs of evolution with those rich undertones that wonderfully counterpoint the brisk, acid-driven and herby, even subtly bitter fruit flavors so typical of Aligoté. The use of oak feels very judicious and harmonious here: you can taste it, but it stays firmly in the background throughout. A lovely and very impressive effort that serves as a great reminder how in deft hands Aligoté can be a serious contender to Chardonnay, not just an afterthought. Can be drunk now, but most likely will continue to evolve and improve for at least a handful of years more. Excellent value at 18€.

Very nice wine from a tricky vintage.

Pear and banana wrapped in the citrus chalky minerality. Very lively and juicy on the palate, with a medium plus finish backboned by great acidity.

Gresigny is always a smart buy as it comes from the oldest 50-year-old bushes of domaine. In my opinion usually better than the village level from Cote d'Or for a much lower price.

As always with white burgundy - air helps a lot, don't hesitate to decant it. Much better on the second day, very serious stuff for a reasonable price.

British speaking: a very nice white Burgundy, indeed! Light yellow-golden color, a nutty nose and a full flavor of ripe Chardonnay with butter, peaches, grapefruit and “minerals”, and a medium long final with more than enough acids for such a warm vintage. Considering the insane prices of most white wines of the Côte de Beaune, at 30€ this can certainly be called a value. This wine can be cellared safely for several years.
Diam cork.

PnP & slow ox in Burg glasses & btl 2hrs prior to dinner. Semi translucent ruby red color. Perfuse aromas of sweet berries, spice and trace forest floor. The palate shows elegant energetic cherries, earthy mineral, spice & forest floor. Unlike my earlier btl in Aug '20 this is now suave & elegant. A terrific, hard to find producer in the US, terroir driven, transparent, hands-off Burgundy. Think Volnay for $27:) 13.5% alc. 1 more for 2027+

This was great. It seemed like maybe it was whole cluster fermentation since it seemed a bit woodsy but not oaky. Nice depth and complexity, especially for the price. Surprisingly good pairing with tikka masala.

Love this wine. Now starting to show some yellowing and developing more secondary flavours. Still a hint of.lime.citrus and stone but more butter, nut and mushroom. Definitely benefits from being warmer than 12 degrees as is more forward when a bit warmer. Medium body carried by perfect acidity. Great value white Burg

Root day and all kinds of rain, but what’s the best way to enliven leftovers? Well, tonight it’s Burgundy from the Côte Châlonnaise. And dear reader, for most of my vinous life I’ve been enamored by Jacqueson. Suave, but not slick; polished, yet never deracinated Jaqueson manages oak and ripeness with a deftness belying their humble appellation(s). Beautiful raspberry, tea rose, and loam on the nose with flitters of Asian spice and pomegranate molasses on the periphery. The palate is coiled, but with air reveals red fruit flavors with wild raspberry, Morello cherry, and a mid-weight, pungently mineral core. There are plenty of soil notes to furrow the brow of this handsome visage, but this serves to remind us that Burgundy is a wine of earth at least as much as the fruit cares to share. In a good place now, but if you have a bunch a year or two shouldn’t hurt a bit. Fine bottle with the weather and some leftover poulet au vinaigre. Re-buy? I bought a pile and would pounce given the chance at a second bite of that apple.
