After a few relatively disappointing tastings in the last few years where it basically is a monolithic big huge wine without a lot of flavor or complexity it is finally starting to show some complexity. Prior to this tasting their less expensive Le Hurlevent Had been consistently more impressive. Answering a lot of spice and dark berry flavors this is finally starting to open up. Is a big huge wine and hopefully it will continue to open up with further aging which I truly believe it will. At the end of the day if you're going to have one of the big boy cdps the Le Hurlevent is it much better choice in my opinion. I think the QPR for this wine is fair to poor. I hope the time will prove me wrong and this will open up to be a much more beautiful in the future. For now if you drink it let it breathe extensively. I'll probably wait another year or two before trying this again

93++ another fantastic showing. Aging at a snail's pace and that is a good thing. Dents and concentrated with loads of ripe fruit. One of the best kosher cdps out there. It's expensive but it's definitely worth the money. A must try. This will probably be long lived but the question is how long will it continue to drink like it is drinking now with its nice fruit and complexity before it starts to take on more secondary flavors which will take away some of the uniqueness of its current flavor profile which I think is what makes it so special.

Still young and fresh. Red and black fruits with some herbs and leather. Great food wine. Very little sediment.

This is in a really great place right now, especially on the palate. The nose only comes out with swirling but it’s a really lovely classic CDP nose. The palate is very pure and harmonious—where no single component stands—everything is in balance. Best of all, there is no stewed fruit (personal preference), the telltale light cherry and pepper spice is fresh. It would be better decanted (especially for the nose) but I popped bc I’m drinking over a few nights.

Update—93 pts on the second night; the nose was far more prominent (and beautiful, somewhat floral for a cdp), and if anything the palate was richer and deeper, and certainly longer). In summation; this wine (or at least, this bottle) has 5 years left at peak and would benefit from a 1 hr decant today I’m guessing. Quite a bargain!

Strawberries, kirsch, and black raspberries, with a touch of licorice create the perfume. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, vibrant, forward and fruity, finishing with herbs, olives and spicy red berries. This will be easy to enjoy on release. The wine blends 55% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre, 3% Cinsault and 2% Counoise. Drink from 2024-2028.

Floral in nature, the sweet red fruits are accompanied by licorice, and spice. Fresh, forward, and fruity with a touch of salt to the juicy kirsch, this is already showing quite nicely. The wine is made from a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Cinsault, and 5% Mourvedre. Drink from 2024 - 2030.

30-60 minutes of air, dark dense colour, in the nose liquorice, Black Forest Kirsch, some black currant. Taste of Black Forest Kirsch (some destiller would be envious), liquorice, black currant, some tabacco, some earthy notes. Very bold and dense, lacking a bit of tension, tannins are well integrated. Not a lot layers, but very nice to drink.

absolutely delicious right now, small dark crunchy berries, a very fresh and invigorating herbal streak. olive and roasted meat notes pointed me to a high percentage of Syrah in this bottling. this was drinking absolutely great. I don't see much improvement unless you prefer a tertiary dominated wine, but I also don't see a decline in the near future.

tannins nicely integrated and at 14.5% abc the alcohol was completely integrated and was not noticeable.

Lunch with Edouard Labeye with some smart bottles served blind (Radford Dale Organic): (Tasted Blind): The nose shows jam and compote fruit feeling warm and Grenache-driven with an appealing open-knit quality. Hints of black pepper and liquorice with molasses join the fray of what promises to be a fuller, hotter style. Firm, drying tannins with an edgy mineral feel there is a lot of hot chilli pepper, engine oil and grappa/pomace notes leading to a rustic angle to the wine. Fly spray, leather polish, dried orange and beeswax settle in on the back palate. Finish is fairly long. Whilst it is on the baked side there is formidable concentration (lower yields?) and a lovely fresh bridge of acidity that keeps it upright. I, sort of, liked it... Hmm not convinced...
70 Grenache, 15 Syrah, 10 Consult, 5 Mourvedre.

Medium to dark ruby color. Sweet dark fruit slightly spicy bouquet. Medium to full bodied and very concentrated. Loads of dark fruits, peppers, pepper, spice, long fruity acidic finish. Loads of integrated tannins to balance out the fruit. Great wine. Great QPR. Much better than the Usseglio CDP regular and Old vines. Better than the 19 Le Hurlevent, but the 19 is almost as impressive and worth owning and drinking

Killer This is what great CDP should be. Dark ruby color. Strong sweet spicy pepper. Bouquet. On the palate, rich concentrated, complex. Loaded with flavors of sweet ripe earth fruit, peppers, spice, dark sweet typical grenache fruits. Had side by side with the 2020 it holds its own. The 2020 is slightly riper and more concentrated but not by much. Both very impressive, both great QPR, both worth owning. Drink now to 2029
