Sour cherry, strong earth notes though elusive - comes on strong and then hides away from your nose, probably because of the blend of merlot, which gave a very plush and soft mouthfeel. Other darkish colored fruits. Good to drink now. Notes vanished after in decanter for 4 hours, but it was a good thing we only decanted 1/3 and drank most of it. |

Black cherry, dried apricot, mushroom, leather, forest floor, and licorice. Silky tannins and welcoming acidity give way to a plush, enduring finish. Drinking beautifully right now! Strikes a wonderful balance of primary and tertiary notes. |

Notes of pleasantly sweet and slightly acrid raspberries, pomegranates, and cranberries. Light-bodied with strong acids. Very pleasant and an excellent food wine; it paired equally well with scallops and a chili cheeseburger. A touch of vanilla cream with fresh raspberries on the finish. Delicious. |

2/17/2022 - Squirreljam Likes this wine: NRHmm nice wine, been cellaring for a while, brought home from Italy work trip in early-mid oughts. Cork crumbled but wine is good. Color still vibrant with some (but minimal) bricking. Nose has a bit of petroleum jelly up front tho it faded w/ time, rich fruit at the beginning, bit of eucalyptus, black berry. Nose richer than palate, which I like. Still juicy mouthfeel with great acidity, tart dark berries, cherry, and a long mouthwatering finish; still tannins but not obtrusive, hint of sawdust. There’s also a hide and seek hint of sweetness that I can’t pin down. Overall I love this. |
