1st of 6 bottles. Not a bad wine, but slightly disappointing for a $20 French Chard. Would have been a real "find" for, say, $12. Sure, there are worse $20+++ Chards out there (Napa, I'm looking at you), but there are better $20 Chablis (and other low rent Burgs) out there, too.

Certainly some prominent oak. Not too much (such as cheapo Cali mass produced juice), but front and center, along with some nice citrus. Good acidity and freshness, but overall comes off a bit "green".Minerality is there, just subtle in comparison to oak (and lemon).

Really, not bad at all. Worth $20? Sure. Bragging that it is a Mersualt-like steal for *only* $20? Not really. It's young... maybe it comes together soon with better balance and mellow oakiness. 5 bottles to go...

It’s round and has tropical fruit notes probably coming from ripe fruit. It was enjoyable and easy to drink.

From Wine Exchange (retailer):

The grapes for this wine came from Hérault, and area that Mas de Daumas Gassac put on the map with their pioneering efforts in the region. Plus, as an extra advantage, this wine is made by a heralded winemaker in Meursault. It all starts with winemaker Vincent Boyer of Domaine Boyer-Martenot.

The estate vineyards are located near the village of Pézenas. The vineyards face north, somewhat mediating the warmer climes of the south, and the soils are deep and rich in clay, with a moderate percentage of limestone (a classic ingredient in many of the great Chardonnay vineyards of the Cote d’Or). The vines are 20 years of age.

The grapes are hand-harvested, full-cluster pressed, and fermented on indigenous yeasts in tank. The juice then spends one year in French oak barrels follows by eight months in cement eggs. The Boyer de Bar Chardonnay Les Peyrarols 2019 is then bottled unfined and unfiltered to most effectively reflect this unique site.

Maybe it’s psychosomatic, but there’s a whiff and a streak of that Meursault grilled nut character in this broad, expressive Chardonnay to go along with the core of apple/peach fruit. A lick of citrus, a hint of wild herbs, and flecks of spice add nuance to this energetic Chardonnay that has plenty of weight but sports more of a European elegance front to back. Long, lively, and delicious, most folks wouldn’t pick this out a being from the south. It could easily hang with a lot of villages level white Burgundies with the most noticeable difference being the price tag.

Special one. Grapes from the south of France and made in Burgundy. Like a true Burgundy wine. This leads to a very well priced ‘Burgundy’ wine, €17.
Well balanced, touch of vanilla, pear, apple, apricot. Nice!

Decent Chardonnay, lemon, some butter and cream, somewhat restrained (but noticable) use of oak . Take this note with a grain of salt as mine may have not been stored properly.

Purchased from our local gourmet grocery store, advertised as a mini-meursault and I agree there’s a smooth nutty richness to this which is quite pleasant. I’m guessing this is declassified meursault or borgogne blanc from the vicinity. But the surprise is that these are in fact north facing vineyards in the Languedoc! Impressive and I’m surprised.

Excellent price-quality. Like a Burgundy wine but made with grapes from the South of France.
