4/27/2024 - Scott4227 Likes this wine: 88 pointsBright dark red almost to the edge, nose of rain on schist, red berry, pomegranate... nice red berry, some acid balanced with light powdery tannins .. pleasant enough and certainly not offensive, but lacking that CO ripeness, the big CO intensity... polite, subtle perhaps to its detriment at an Asian fusion restaurant. Nice but not what you're looking for at that restaurant, shame. |

9/23/2023 - briangenius Likes this wine: 92 pointsGroup dinner out at Queenstown Jervois steakhouse, chose this bottle to share due to diverse varietal preference amongst the group. On its own, nice fruit and floral on the nose, medium body with medium finish. Paired ok with the steak (wasn’t sure how this Pinot was going to hold up against the heavy meat) likely due to its above medium tannin structure. Overall enjoyable |

5/26/2023 - Beerzebub Likes this wine: NRP&p. Earth/gravel, leafy/twiggy, mushroom, cool dark-red fruit aromas, offering some rustic, 'old world' character. Some spicy oak, not too much. Tart dark red fruit on the palate; heaps of acidity; light on tannins. Tasty, glouglou, enjoyable entry level wine from an excellent producer, good value. |

5/20/2023 - Southern Wine Buff Likes this wine: 86 pointsOff dry style. Delicate, slightly steely with lemon and jasmine. Nicely in balance, and a lot better than a bargain bin Pinit Gris, but very good rather than excellent. |

4/2/2023 - Beerzebub Likes this wine: NRAnother excellent bottle of this. No major change from a year ago. Like drinking lime juice, gently infused with jasmine, from a limestone chalice. Banging acidity, coming across as almost completely dry but with just enough sugar to keep it balanced. Very stony/mineral finish. Pretty wine, delicious, ridiculous value. |

10/16/2022 - Marc wrote: 91 pointsPost Joachim Concerto and audition day dinner (Trelissick Crescent, Ngaio, Wellington, New Zealand): Drunk a week after the 2013 and 2017 iterations of this wine, and drunk next to a 2014 Arterberry Hills and a 2010 Pommard, this felt like it needs more time to resolve all of its constituent parts. It is a big and classic Central style, but the fruit and oak have not yet completely marrie. Over t course of the evening, my affections moved from one Pinot to the other, depending on the bite of food I was enjoying. This one convinces in its bold regional style. |

This is very fine wine, but did not strike me a outstanding on the night. Dependable and delicious, but veers towards what one would expect. |

This is a a fabulous Pinot Blanc, with beautiful varietal expression, classy toasted oak character, intense and multi-layered palate, and a real sense of drive to the finish. This would hold its head high in a tasting of Alsatian examples. Also drunk were the 2019 EBM chardonnay (excellent), the 2019 dry Riesling (very austere at the moment), amd the 2013 and 2017 Excelsior Pinot Noirs (Boh very fine), but for me, it was this gorgeous Pinot Blanc that rally turned my head and palate on the day! |

The nose was red fruit. The palate was cherry, strawberry and a bit of spice. The finish was moderate. There is no doubt that this wine is still alive, but it is tired. Time to drink up. |

2/4/2022 - Beerzebub Likes this wine: NRP&p; best with an hour+ of air in the bottle. Burgundian, earthy, mushroomy forest floor and general stinkiness (in a good way), together with fresh, crunchy, dark red fruit, flowers, and dried herbs/leaves/twigs. Good acidity. Some fine tannins underneath. Good intensity of aroma and flavor, while staying fairly light in weight. Savory, with a touch of bitterness toward the finish, characterful, tasty/moreish, fun wine. |
