UGCB Amsterdam, walkaround tasting so just short notes.: Red berries and herbaceous with ok acidity and a touch of sweetness. Supple and a bit thin. One of the more disappointing of this tasting, but not a bad wine.

UGCB tasting-Amsterdam 2021 Bordeaux 03-04-2024: After the excellent '20 this lighter vintage presents a serieus wine with fraîcheur, lovely bitters, good tannins and a body with sufficient volume.

Cherries, flowers, spice and herbs crowd into the perfume. The palate is light, vibrant and soft, finishing with high-toned, cherries, raspberries and strawberries. Not a lot of depth, but I like the charm here. Drink from 2024-2032.

Mittleres Rubinrot. Spot on well aged Merlot driven right banker. Not the most complex but unmistakably Pomerol. Plummy, dark fruits, mushrooms, stewed tomatoes. Perhaps a little over oaked. Drinking great now.

Great, great vintage
Great AOC
Very good producer. No surprise, that this wine is simply so delicious. 2 hours in the decanter, it could be 3, because acidity is still so vivid and fresh.
Sweet aromas of plum, black cherry, dark chocolate, but on the other hand red cherry, forest, flowers, vanilla ( so good).
The taste is bright, fresh, and energetic. Ripe red cherry and red currant, sweet spice, herbs, milk chocolate and vanilla again. Long finish with perfect tannins, spice, red fruits. Balance and harmony.
Third glass - coffee and cocoa both in smell and taste! Dust and grainy tannins.
Earth.
Unbelievable transformation!
95% Merlot
5% CF

8 decades tasting. Vandermeulen bottling. High expectations. Cellared well. No intense aromatics. But you find tobacco, plum, some vanilla and Sherry notes. Acidity is noticeably. Still OK. Missed a wow sensation. Legend does not apply as sometimes mentioned. The same level as Latour a Pomerol.

The Four Seasons Tasting 2006 Bordeaux First Growths (Aubergine Restaurant): Served in Magnum. Blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. A deep ruby to garnet rim, the bouquet feels rustic and a with some Brett notes. Roasted herbs, cola tonic and some red fruits peek through however.
Medium-bodied, the wine opens with a strong cherry elements and moves to smoky, mineral qualities before displaying dense firm but fine tannins. A long poised finish closes with plenty of sweet cherry to kirsch fruit and intense dark chocolate flavours.

Terroir-istes International - France, Bordeaux, Pomerol (Groot Constantia): A medium garnet, showing initial signs of ageing. The nose offers penetrating ripe red fruits showing maraschino cherries, ripe softened raspberries and hints of Belgium chocolate. The entry is smooth, intense, and rich, with plenty of ripeness reflecting the year's warmth. It offers a generous mouth-coating texture and a lasting finish on the back palate but the alcohol slightly protrudes - also reasonably extracted. The tannins are rather brash (touch foursquare) but sweet-edged. A good but not top wine.

Notes made after 3hrs
Dark only colour. Graphite nose. Small berries and raisins on the palate. Noticeably acidity and still some tannins. Good long finish but not sure this has the fruit to balance it out for the long haul.

Bert's pension party part 2; Bordeaux (@ BV): The first thing to notice is that this wine is fully mature and needs to be drunk now (or next year). So a confirmation of my previous notes. Creamy bouquet with vanilla and other sweet spices, beautiful oak and the same on the palate. Red berries, round and creamy, some pleasant stable impressions, very juicy and a good length.

Typically the wine is composed almost entirely of Merlot with only a tiny addition of Cabernet Franc. Aged for 18 months in barriques, of which about half are replaced annually. 12,5% alcohol.

Luminous, moderately translucent and still relatively youthful dark ruby color with faint evolved brick-red highlights. The nose feels attractively fragrant, harmonious and slightly sweet-toned with nuanced aromas of juicy black cherries, some distinctive arrack tones, a little bit of wild strawberry, light evolved nuances of wizened blackcurrants and old leather, a hint of dusty wood and a touch of forest floor. The wine feels dry, firm and somewhat evolved on the palate with a medium body and harmonious, complex flavors of fresh blackcurrants and wizened red cherries, some arrack tones, a little bit of tobacco, light woody notes of pencil shavings, a hint of forest floor and a meaty touch of roasted game. The overall feel is still remarkably firm and structure-driven, thanks to the high acidity and moderately grippy yet not aggressive tannins. The finish is firm, long and juicy with layered flavors of ripe blackcurrants and dried chokeberries, some woody notes of cedar and pencil shavings, a little bit of old leather, light nuances of pipe tobacco, a characterful hint of arrack and a touch of gravelly minerality.

A fine, wonderfully evolved and still rather firm and structured Pomerol with great sense of depth, complexity and intensity. The wine stood out in a Bordeaux tasting with its distinctive nuance of arrack, which might or might've not come from new oak - however it might be, it didn't really distract but just added to the complexity here, lending a sort of sweet lift to the wine's otherwise more savory flavors. The color here was remarkably youthful compared to the other wines of similar age, but on the palate the wine seemed much more evolved - as is appropriate for a wine +35 years old. All in all, this was a terrific effort and one of the most rewarding Pomerol wines I've had in a long while. Not particularly affordable at approx. 75€, but delivers for the price. Very nice, highly recommended.

Quite floral in nature, the wine is loaded with sweet, ripe cherries, and juicy plums. Medium-bodied, soft, and elegant, with a touch of chocolate, espresso, and cherries in the finish, this will drink well on release. Drink from 2025-2038. 90-92 Pts.

Quite ripe and developed high quality Pomerol from an underrated chateau. Earthiness aromas mixed with dark red and blue fuits, nice minerality and pomerol mystery as u would expect. Smooth tannins. Perfect drinking window now. Maybe u can wait with the 0,75 or magnum bottles a bit but this half was ready for business...

En Primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage Day Two (Bordeaux): Meaty, savoury, red hued fruits over a dense black plums core, a little cedar here as well. Medium plus intensity acidity, that meaty/savoury note translates to the palate along with the red hued fruits, the black plums more subdued, tannins are talc textured and subdued. Hmm
