This was a good match for duck fillet and Gesiers and Fromage de Brebis. Drink in next 5-10 years+. Needs 3-4 hrs aeration to open up. 13.5%. |

This wine is clearly at an apex now if you want that smooth, blackcurrant drink with beautifully balanced tannins and acidity. The color is deep ruby, but still transparent. The nose is dominated by primary fruit like blackcurrant and blueberries, but also with some nice secondary tones of bread and vanilla. The alcohol shines somewhat trough on the nose. Medium to full bodied attack, sweet blackcurrant and cherry fruit on the mid palate, sweet and smooth tannins, fine acidity, and a fresh and salivating finish dominated by black cherry, blackcurrant, and a hint of coffee and citrus (!) in the aftertaste. The alcohols is not present in the finish. This will probably age well foo those who like their wine with less fruit and more tertiary aromas. Wonderful now, but not exactly exciting. |

Palate is much more narrow and thin as the fruit has really given way to tertiary notes. Rather dry coarse tannins. This is great for fans of classic Bdx but won’t get better and I fear the rather coarse tannins will become more pronounced with time. |

Lovely stuff - lemon and lime aromas with lingering oak, but not too much, then a mouthful of buttery lemon with a touch of quince and herbs, quite bracing on the finish, promising more to come. Quite a nice surprise, I really should have waited longer. The CT drink-by dates are, as is often the case, completely silly. It's good now, but could be better with another two years and will be great for a good decade afterwards. |
