3/2/2024 - WineGuyX Does not like this wine: 87 pointsSmoky/phenolic nose. Palate is like charred bandaids and oak. Several hours in decanter hasn't helped much. That said, the texture is nice and there are brooding black fruits and chocolate/vanilla. This may evolve over the coming few years. 87 |

Unbalanced with gloppy oak, milk chocolate, and grassy hay dominating….any fruits which may exist are buried and unrecognizable. Last of six bottles, all of which were good, except this, which faded quickly. Used for cooking. |

6/15/2023 - gfb1 Likes this wine: 90 pointsI am going out on a limb by giving this a 90 rating. But, this unpretentious wine is tasting at an absolutely marvelous point of bordelais delicacy with a lively, fruity zip! Not so much as to head into brutish fruit forward dominance. Yet, a beautiful amalgam of the virtues of old and new world, appreciating both with heightened sensitivity. A rare find at the right moment! |

8/1/2021 - wmccone54 wrote: 90 pointsShort decant. Deep ruby color, full body. Tannic grip finally seems to be loosening, allowing the black fruits and nuance to start to show. Leads with powdered chocolate, earth tones and a melange of black fruits. What seemed to be a “droid” a couple years ago, is now showing signs of life! Needs decanting but has the potential for another 8-10 years. |

6/22/2018 - wmccone54 wrote: 88 pointsEnjoyed over two evenings with food and decanted on the first evening. Definitely more mature than what I noted 3-1/2 years ago. Medium, still developing aromatics lead with a vegetative component, dark chocolate, black currants, blackberry and blueberry, leafy tobacco, and some oakspice. Dry in the mouth. Similar medium flavors in the mouth. Medium alcohol, medium plus body. Tannin and acid both fall into the medium category supporting a medium finish. Good complexity and balance, but I wish it showed more intensity and length. Great for $20 in a fantastic vintage. |

10/16/2016 - oakville72 Likes this wine: 91 pointsBeat the heck out of a pair of very nice Napa and Sonoma Bordeaux blends and two great Zinfandels at our bi-monthly wine tasting. Deep color, expressive nose, with an explosion of fruit, acid and a surprisingly high level of alcohol in the finish. Still has many years to go. If this is a 2nd wine, the 1st must be phenomenal. |

3/21/2015 - horse Likes this wine: 91 pointsA very nice surprise with great structure. This bottle was opened for a party but NOT consumed on Monday of this week. Thus, drank a bit over the course of each subsequent night, including the last small bit now on Saturday (now five nights later). The wine was delicious each night although became just a tad hot on nights four and five. It held up surprisingly well, which suggests good bones for a number of years to come. Medium body of dark fruits, spice, and some menthol. Well integrated tannins with a medium to long finish. The longevity over a number of nights factors into my 91 score. Excellent QPR. |

10/6/2014 - studleytrey wrote: 89 pointsThis needs at least one, closer to two, hours of air at this point for my taste, as it was a bit fake and disjointed on the pop, but with air it comes around nicely. Dense ruby coloring. Aromas of potpourri, pencil lead, and a blend of black, blue and dark red fruits. Medium+ body with bright acid, medium finish, and black and dark red fruits on the palate, with a bit of spice and mineral, . Tannins are a little grainy and firm, so I'll be holding the rest a few more years. |
