3/18/2024 - VAGenius Likes this wine: 91 pointsNose of red cherries, black plum, watermelon candy, and wood shavings. High toned black cherry fruit shows a sour edge laced with light tarragon notes on the palate. Lots of red fruit on the finish with subdued, resolved tannins, cranberry acidity, and damp earth and light oak. Drink over the next couple years. |

8/10/2023 - merryberry Likes this wine: 90 pointsMaroon with a touch of brown. Medium bodied, herbaceous, baked cherries, grainy tannins, wet earth, and a medium length finish. I mostly agree with MRICHMAN's TN from 3 years ago. |

4/17/2023 - VAGenius Likes this wine: 92 pointsPnP. Nose shows lots of sawdust covering up red cherry and cranberry with a touch of spice in the background. Palate delivers a strong "pop" of red berry fruit with a little blueberry, expanding across the tongue with tart cherry, nutmeg, and red licorice as the acidity drives it with energy. Medium tannins provide a backdrop, with darker cherry, cough drop, and cola lingering long, with the acidity still shining through. Surprisingly fruit-driven and light in body for a California Syrah. Drinking well right now. |

On the medium bodied palate there were lots of red fruits with a serious dose of spice and pepper. The acidity was juicy and balancing and any oak was integrated. May benefit from some cellar time and/or decanting. |

Lucious dark red fruit, a touch of some blue fruit and lots of pepper and spice. The acidity is juicily up to the task of balancing all this fruit and any oak is integrated. Let it rest in your cellar for a while or give it some air for maximum enjoyment. |

Lots of dark red fruit and spice along with a touch of black tea on the medium bodied, acid balanced palate. A smooth and lasting finish. Quite primary and could use a bit of cellar time. |

10/26/2022 - VlgJeff wrote: NRCAA-WIN Fogline Wine Dinner (Baci & Abbracci in Williamsburg): Some slo-ox before serving. A true RRV Pinot with red fruit and cola on the nose. The palate was to the lighter side of medium bodied and showed the same red fruit, just a bit of darker fruits, some black tea, just a touch of spice and the RRV cola. May improve with cellar time and/or air. |

Finishes with touches of spice and minerality in a medium bodied, acid balanced wine. Probably best to let it sit in your cellar for a while to allow the oak to integrate better. |

Solid, fruit forward. I wouldn't push the age too much longer. Drink over the next year or two. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |
