3/3/2024 - sean7711 Likes this wine: 95 pointsOpened Friday and finished Sunday. Still has that classic Rutherford dust and Greer signature terroir. One more bottle that I’ll wait another 5+ on. Still plenty of fruit and life left to this. |

2/16/2024 - Cablover1982 Likes this wine: 97 pointsThis ‘16 Greer is my first and I absolutely loved it. Super high quality wine with numerous layers of notes from dark cherry, licorice, flowers, cardamom, fennel, cast iron pan with that sandy/dusty texture. So so good. Good acidity, grainy tannins on long finish. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

12/16/2023 - Nutty08 Likes this wine: 94 pointsDecanted and needed. Still shows some vanilla and coconut but has a terrific core of black currants mixed with a little cassis. Palate is polish and quite suave— but shows the tannic structure on the finish. Solid. Could still use a few years but drinking well now. |

11/18/2023 - Nutty08 Likes this wine: 93 pointsDecanted 3hrs. Needed more as it kept getting better with air. Dark ripe fruits—mostly currant driven. Rather prominent herbal cab note on the palate and finish that adds a nice layer of complexity. Quite persistent on the finish. Kept getting better and better—but the coarseness of the tannins is what keeps this from the next level. |

11/17/2023 - CCGCCG Likes this wine: 95 pointsThis is a big Napa cab. We know that 2013 was a great year and this small Vineyard, which is geographically next to Scarecrow and Staglin (just down Manly Lane), is very special. It’s essentially a vineyard and a barn. When we ordered our bottles in a visit with some very special friends, we had the most wonderful tasting on the second floor of the barn, overlooking the vineyards, and the proprietor joined us. It was just great. The only issue is that it’s a very small production gig, and I don’t even know if I can get any more of the 2013. In any case, we popped this at 1862 in real time. Kevin, the amazing manager, and Lauren, the amazing sommelier, decanted the bottle, and we let it rest with its thoughts only for about 40 minutes. I think that was probably not enough to be optimal. If we have it another hour or two before we started to drink it, I bet it would’ve added a point or two. To my taste, the 2013 Greer tastes like the 2013 Dominus with just a little more oomph. Slightly heavier mouth feel, a little heavier on the alcohol, with more tanic elements. That said it was totally well-appreciated by the table (even one good friend who says she “isn’t a red wine girl” almost chugged the glass). Really wonderful and a great find. Thanks Kevin, Adam, and Ryan! |

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit concerned about the direction of this wine. I see a lot of good reviews by good people here, so I’ll defer to you all in that regard. I’ve had a decent amount of experience with Greer over the years and have had some hit/miss experiences. I can hear it already… “This was clearly an off bottle.” All I can say is the 2019, though comparatively an improvement, wasn’t much different. I’m very familiar with the winemaker’s style here, and even still, this came off incredibly strict and bitter. Here’s hoping your mileage will vary. 1 person found this helpful, do you? 10/14/2023 - WST Likes this wine: NRA Charity event plus two days of birthday celebration; a memorable three day weekend.; 10/13/2023-10/15/2023 (Samish Hill, Bellingham, WA): Those who know my palate will be as surprised as me how much I liked this wine. I wanted something bold to pair with two seared dry aged Flannery "Jorge" bone-in rib steaks. I was expecting a fairly "big" wine, though it felt more medium bodied. The balance was really incredible; perfect! Nothing dominated, just luxurious dark red fruit, fine generous tannins, and ideal acidity. I think what struck me was the balance and almost ethereal quality in the face of fairly generous Rutherford fruit. This was no fruit bomb. |

7/15/2023 - EMTAME wrote: 93 pointsA beautiful wine that is just at the very beginning of its drinking window. I gave this 4.5 hours of air and it continues to drink well throughout the night, becoming more interesting as time went by. There are still significant dusty tannins behind the dark red and black fruit; I suspect the best is yet to come. If I had other bottles, I’d check in on this again in 2-3 years. |
