Final bottle.
Deep ruby, still lots of dark fruit & liquorice.
Still drinking very well and should do so for 3-5 years given evolution since 2021.

Viognier, Sauvignon and Chardonnay blend
Tinned apricots on the nose, sweet smelling,
Big hit of bittersweet apricots on the palate, full and a little syrupy. Viognier very much to the fore. Quite enjoyable in small doses but hard to know when to drink this. Also not cheap £25-30.

Two days open in the fridge and this is much more fun, leaner and more citric, though still with some weight.

Decanted for 3 hours. Served with Chuck roast, potato and asparagus. Great red fruit and peppery spice notes. Felt very well balanced and versatile for food pairing. Be aware of sediment while decanting.

60% Viognier, 25% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Chardonnay. French oak for 5 months, 50% new, 50% used. Plenty of acidity and structure, indeed feels pretty youthful. And very well made. Sadly for my palate the Sauvignon dominates and overwhelms the Viognier. Perhaps this may balance with more time.

I didn't make it out as a Chard and had no clue about it's origin (guessed South Africa) but got the vintage right…
The glass was small, and I never arrived at the station where I flag this wine very high. The case could have been different with a richer serving and more plates to pair it with…

We tasted this Viognier based blend last night at the 33rd Virtual Wine Tasting event. As per usual it was scored at room temp as well as chilled. We normally see a preference for room temp whites but this bottle was the opposite.

Pale lemon with high viscosity (14.6% ABV). Medium (-) aromas of minerality, honeysuckle, peach, pear and nectarine. The palate was dry with medium (+) acidity and a full body. Stone fruit dominant there were also flavors of honeysuckle and that rocky minerality. A medium (-) length finish detracted some points for an overall rating of 10 for me on our scoring sheet.

Served chilled- the wine really took on its own with more noticeable peach, a touch of lemon and that honeysuckle. On the palate is was slightly less acidic but fuller bodied, opposite of what I was imagining would happen. The palate mirrored the nose with the addition of a pithy bitterness towards the mid palate. The finish seemed to linger longer and the wine scored higher, 12 on the sheet. Overall this is a 91 point wine for me and at $24, it gets 4 stars. Grilled salmon or a Cornish hen would pair nicely. Drink till 2030.

Very strong nectarine and kiwi aroma. That kiwi turns almost artificial with some watermelon. There also is very pungent rhubarb.
On the palate it’s medium bodied and has decent acidity. Much more rhubarb on the palate. The oak isn’t excessive but it’s noticeable as an oak twig. Apple marmalade.
As it warms up, a little butter aroma appears.
10/18

Black fruit, sour cherries, and oak on the nose. Bright piquant plums and currants on the palate. Silky dark chocolate licorice on the finish.

Opened thinking it wouldn't need decanting. Good nose with smoky tones, but tasted very flat and a chemically bad finish. Decanted to see if it could be salvaged. After 1 hour decant: opened up slightly. Color of dark cherry, very little fruit taste, decent legs in the glass but still no finish

Interesting. A little sweet and then the taste of the viognier. My first experience with the Lebanese grape Obeidy. Was not super impressed with this bottle but would like to try something like it again.

Voted that I like it, but I'm not sure I really do. Too many tropical fruit notes and floral notes. Fine expression of the style, but just not for me.

Concentrated and herb infused unique blend of 35% CS, 26% Caladoc, 22% Syrah and 17% Tempranillo. Vines are located at 1 km of altitude, wine is aged in used FR oak for 6 months. Deep garnet colour. Intense herbal aroma with notes of blackcurrants, cherries, plums, balsamic, licorice, toast and sweet spices. Full body, concentrated but not overpowering or dense, with spiced blackcurrant and blackberry flavours, delicate dry herb nuances, medium acidity, fine grained powdery tannins.

Fresh red fruits, juicy, bright acidity, grippy (but not too much) tannins. Accessible now and has good potential ahead.
Unlike previous buddies I liked the wine and found it fairly priced at ~$60. Maybe it depends on the bottle/storage.

Pnp. Medium purple in colour. Nose of red and blue berries with a hint of rubbing alcohol. On the palate, there are blackberries with ripe blueberries with a touch of green herbs and dark chocolate. Medium bodied with a short-medium finish.

Discovered from a SWIG Lebanese tasting - a blend of CS/Syrah/Tempranillo & Caladoc. Black fruit nose with some vanilla, a rich fruit start then by the mid palate a more complex more austere mouthful. Very good.

Heavy notes of pepper, cherry, and currant. Bizarrely buttery for a red wine. Thick and jammy. I'm assuming there's some grenache or syrah. Very mild tannin but it comes though enough.

First time trying this producer at French Lebanese restaurant. Waiter informed us 2013 is a strong year for Lebanese wines. Really enjoyed this wine after brief decant. In the glass it was ruby with a fair amount of garnet brick. Very concentrated fruit in the glass and yet medium bodied and elegant. Acidity med-med+. Red fruit driven, you could taste both the Cabernet and Syrah. Soft, integrated tannins yet enough bite to pair perfectly with spiced chicken and lamb. I would say this is perfect drinking window now. Not sure about aging.

Pours a dark purple in the glass and served with a ribeye. The wine took roughly 2-3 hours to open up.

On the nose: dark plums, cinnamon, and cloves
On the palate: figs, dark cherry, cracked peppercorns from the alcohol and a full bodied finish. The wine was quite tannic and has a lot more years to go. This was great from El Ixsir.

Having just visited this winery where I tasted the 2022 from the still unbottled vats I had to bring home a bottle to share with Moxie. It shows a beautiful medium straw-lemon color in the glass. The nose has pronounced aromas of lemon, grapefruit, lychee, pineapple, white flower, a hint of vanilla bean and perhaps some bread. The palate is dry and a touch bitter with grapefruit pith, lemon, rose, lychee, pineapple and a floral note making it quite a complex array of delicious flavors. Medium acidity and a medium to full body take me to a finish that lasts a good 20 seconds and delves into the citrus and pith world. It's very floral and fruity with just the right amount of cut to make it a pleasing aperitif wine that I would pair with chicken and dare I say- spicy foods. So glad this bottle survived my extensive travels from Beirut to the UK and finally home, well worth the effort. A blend of Obeideh, Muscat and Viognier it can be found for $18 and gets 90 points from me making it a 5 star effort.

Pale lemon. For this blend the Muscat and Viognier really dominate with floral, peach, grape notes, soft acidity and medium plus body. The wine is lush and rich and a good QPR
