Pale lemon color. Medium white flowers and pear in tho nose. Youthful. Dry, high acidity, only just medium alcohol, medium body, medium pear in the mouth. Medium length. Simple but honest clean juicy high acid fruit. To be enjoyed in its youth. A steal for 11 €...

A really interesting wine and needed some research to understand grape varieties etc. Interestingly it must include 20% red grapes, which explains the Blanc de noirs style flavour profile. Although Brut Zero, it still had a distinct sweetness. This one was disgorged in Feb 2023, so almost exactly a year in bottle. I suspect that it would improve with more time too….. At £21 I will struggle to buy more though.

New to this wine and region… subdued nose with hints of stoned fruit that come through on the taste - peach, light honey, and an almost steely minerality. Very clean aftertaste that lasts a long time. Intriguing

Bought and consumed in megeve. Pairing with a classic - la raclette. Medium golden color. Beautiful honey notes, pineapple, orange, peach, love the nose. Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med flavor intensity, med finish. Really nice balance, I taste orange, citrus, pineapple with a touch of cream. Really straight wine, very likeable! Love it 😍

Vivacious colour, surprisingly deep; bursts with red cherry, then plums, earthy; scrunchy tannins, refreshing acidity, unflashy lean fruit; attenuated finish. Very long.

If the smell doesn't put you off, the taste will. It's not brett, but it smells of damp barnyard. Tastes of rancid prunes.

Usually I enjoy some sappy Savoie Mondeuse, but this was just ‘ok’. Purple in the glass, cherry and spice nose, light-bodied redcurrant and wild cherry flavours, bright tannins. Welcomingly modest and authentic but somehow lacking distinctiveness.

12% alcohol. Mondeuse 100%. Pretty good long cork with no wine penetration. Did not decant, which was a mistake. The colour is dark with a youthful purple hue at the rim.
The nose is refined and pure with a mixture of red and dark wild berries; no sign of oak. The mouth has good fruit and vg grip; there is some liquorice in the mix, as well as lovely violets.
More refined and less wild than other Mondeuse wines that I had, which has its pluses and minusses.
The match with Bavette à l'échalotte was not great, with the wine-based sauce interfering with the perception of the wine in the glass. Tasting note based on a glass on its own.
A serious wine capable of improvement with bottle age but already very satisfying.

Great juicy and structured at the same time. Black fruits, barnyard funk and earth. Really high acidity, great with fatty cured meats. Mistook this for some natural interpretation of malbec or a bordeaux grape (as far as I checked there is no family relationship with these grapes).

Deep ruby, with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry & some black pepper. Decent weight on the palate, slightly powdery tannin. More bramble & pepper to taste. Remains fresh and light with decent acidity. Nice but straightforward finish. Interesting and well balanced. Drink now.

100% Mondeuse. Deep ruby with aromas of black, brambly fruit with a vegetal note and a touch of barnyard floor. The palate is sappy and fresh with crunchy blackberry and redcurrant fruit. The tannins are a little green. It’s a decent wine but it feels a little disjointed and needs more time. One bottle left so will leave for a year or two before I go again.

Un vin pas très fruité, plutôt sur le cote enrobé, rond plutôt que tranchant. Bref, un Chignin pas trop dans le style que j'aime et peut être déjà un peu trop vieux: le Chignin, il faut le boire jeune sur le fruit.. Moyen.

PnP. Nose of pear, musk melon, and beeswax. Ripe peach and pear palate with a hint of kiwi and lively mango-tinged acidity. Plush-textured and clean finish with medium plus acidity showing off white fruit, white peach, clover, and a hint of lemon. A fun wine that paired perfectly with grilled pork tenderloins that had been marinated with preserved lemons.

12.5% alcohol. Mondeuse 100%. Heavy bottle with a striking label; no collar sleeve. Soft wax top with a good long cork underneath. Dark colour with a youthful purple hue visible at the pouring stage.
Some reduction initially, I should have decanted. Otherwise, the nose has vg notes of fresh dark fruit and ink, not unlike Syrah but somewhat wilder. Similar profile in the mouth, very substantial with plenty of grip and liveliness.
Probably the best Mondeuse that I ever drank, and also the most expensive; whether it is worth the 25€ tag is a matter of opinion, but this wine is easily the equal of most Crozes-H and many a St Joseph.
Destined for a long life (unlike what its name suggests, but on this see further).
A repeat purchase, preferably on a closeout.

After contacting the domain, they clarified that the Ephémère 2018 is a once-off bottling, a cellar selection from the wine normally destined for their Elisa cuvée. L'Ephémère was aged in oak for two years. No perception of oak on my part, but presumably some polishing of the tannins.
There are other Ephémère cuvées made of Roussette and Jacquère (Chignin AOP) in specific vintages.

J-F Quénard has two hectares of Persan in Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte. Fermented with indigenous yeasts without addition of sulfur, aged for twelve months on the lees in older wood and concrete eggs, 13.5% ABV. Rich colour, impressive and very attractive aromatics on the nose (sweet blackcurrant and raspberry, violets, warm spices and mint), good volume on the palate, fresh and well balanced, flavoursome with firm but paper-fine tannins, very good persistence. Very versatile and quite delicious. The only thing that detracts, is a slight metallic note in all stages of the wine - like one encounters in Portugieser in Germany. A judicious blend with Mondeuse (like in the Améthyste from Domaine des Ardoisières) might alleviate this.
