Tawny in the glass with lots of bricking. Dried cherry, fig, date, soil, anise, chocolate, faint espresso. This feels almost port like, just without the sweetness. Lots of warmth from the 16%abv, but it doesn't necessarily feel hot. Very tertiary, but still has very high acidity and tannins. a little bit of a negroni type of vibe, between the bitterness, high acid, and dried fruit character. Well made, just not sure that it really is my style.

Amazing wine. Light on the palate even though it is almost 14% Abv Tropical almost floral notes but with good balancing acidity. This is the wine to sip overlooking the amazing views in Dubrovnik

tasted @Vancouver International Wine Festival 2023: Totally loved this, what a complex wine! 12 years old and without a hint of age. This is very intense, bursting with notes of spices and some roasted oak, very rich fruit but still feels fully alive, juicy and fresh with a beautiful acidity that counterbalances the high alcohol. A fascinating and complex wine and probably the best red wine I have tasted from Croatia so far. Drink now and over the next 7 years. - 95 points

Brick red colour, almost brown. Bouquet of earth, moss and anise. Flavours of chocolate and licorice with dried plum / prune. Lots of acidity.

One hour decant. Very deep ruby color, with slightly rusty rim. Black currant, bay leaf, raspberry, powdered sugar, and pecans. Smooth, tart, and very tongue drying palate. Firm tannins on the medium long+ finish.

This was nice, but the palate is a bit raw. Too much tartness to warrant a higher score.

Nice and pleasant on the nose showing some grass, black currant leaves and opens up with some litchi fruit. Smooth on the palate with citrus acidity and a round mid before opening up on the finish. Feels a bit short and thin on the finish, easy drinking. Fades out in the glass.
(Probably best 2019-2024)

PNP. Very deep ruby color, with a rusty rim. Cherry, oak, anise, plum, and subtle raisin on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with lingering, tongue coating acidity. Firm, full tannins on the medium finish.

This is just a bit past its prime. The finish is too short. Had this at a wonderful little wine bar (D’Vino) in old town Dubrovnik. They have a very deep off-menu cellar.

Red brick through and through. Dehydrated berry fruit and cedar on the nose. Fruit on the decline, but still firm with tannins. Drier than usual, this vintage is coming to an end, starting to experience bottle-to-bottle variability. This one is still good, but it’s on the downhill..

Croatian red wine from Dalmatia: Plavac Mali. Aged for 12 months in French oak barriques (1 – 5 years old). 14,5 % alcohol.

Ruby red color.

Strong aromas of dark fruit, earth, tobacco and minerals. Round flavors of dark fruit, tobacco, lingonberry, sour cherries and vanilla. Some minerality in the background.

Dry. Medium body. Medium+ acidity. Sticky tannins. Good balance. Good structure. Some complexity. Elegant.

Long finish with sour cherries.

A different and successful style of Plavac mali. Compared to the typical Plavac mali, this one has a lighter body, higher acidity and lacks the pronounced flavors of plum. It improves with air. Works good with food (lamb) and on it’s own. Can probably improve with more age. 89/100

Bloody, meat-like, red berres...gorgeous and feral. I laughed at the review previous, but after opening it, I agree completely. Unfortunately, I decanted it 90 minutes before serving it to guests. Bad move. It was a shell of itself. Recommended. But PnP. And drink quickly.

N. Freshness, with hints of fruits and fresh herbs, hard wood, spices, even a bit grassy, quite balanced

T. Herbs again, lacks a bit fresh fruit, hints of vanilla and creamyness and again wood (untoasted barrel perhaps), a bit low complexity, good acid

Garnet to brown in color. Chocolate and coffee on the nose as well as ripe/jammy red fruits. Same on the palate and low tannins. Really drinking we’ll. It is also just “different” but in a good way. Clearly not a “traditional” grape but this is not a flaw. We need more of the non-cab/Pinot/Tempranillo/etc.

Croatian white wine from Dalmatia: Posip. Aged in oak barrels for 6 months. 13 % alcohol.

Pale Golden/greenish color.

Aromas of pear, honey, minerals and vanilla. Flavors of pear, lemon and minerality.

Dry. Full body. Low acidity. Good balance. Some structure. No complexity.

Short finish with lemon.

A very good Posip (but Posip is not a great grape). Works good with both oysters and cod, but is pretty boring on its own. 87/100

From Peljesac in Dalmatia and seem to be a blend between the two most famous designation Dingac and Postup. Amazing breath taking sights and when you been there you know it requires an incredible resilience and character of both grape and farmer.

Still after 10 years, a beautiful and well balanced wine. Drinking great now but don’t see any need for further aging, though if I had another bottle I’d save it for another 5 years to see what happens.

Nail polish, dark plumb, berries, mint, herbs (sage?) are some of the flavors. Solid tannins with a silky touch that has come with time. Beautiful to drink and what a long finish, in the category where you need to count minutes rather than seconds.

This is it, drink up! An excellent Pošip, but just starting on the downslide, peach and apricot, but with a tiny hint of sherry peaking in. Now it contributes to the taste, giving a nice complexity. The Korculan minerality is there making the wine slick and full-bodied.

Deep yellow/gold color. Bruised apple dominates the nose, with extra yeast and an alcoholic note. Full-bodied for a white, the palate is creamy yet slightly astringent, medium-low in acidity, and leaves a medium-length finish. Not a bad wine, but I really want a bit more freshness and food-friendliness. Interesting, but I can't recommend it.

An initial funky awesome nose of cabbage, gradually replaced by red fruit, cigar box and meat. Not sure what kind of meat, but it smells angry. The mid-palette says it can lay down for a bit more, but I like wrestling with this type of beast. The tannin content balanced with the fruit might be my favourite part of this wine. It’s glorious and violent. Great acidity, held nicely in check, great balance. A touch brief on the finish, but still lovely. This is just awesome. My favourite wine from the 2020 Croatian Wine Pairing dinner. What a winner!!
