Lacks a little complexity and the burnt toasty oaky finish is a little too pronounced for my liking. Not an unpleasant wine, just not as exciting as I'd hoped. Two to go. Perhaps more accurate: I am no champion of the overblown, overly grassy, cat pee laden, intense Sauvignon Blancs preferred by certain producers. This is not one of those. In fact, this Chilean white is delightful with a bit of citrus, but also tree fruit (pear and golden apple). The palate is certainly tart, a decided characteristic of the variety, which is a good thing, but there is also fruit in balance with the tartness and a minerality that rounds out the wine nicely. Very Good to Excellent. 88-90 Points. |

It's juicy, mostly strawberry, stewed strawberry, plums, with a touch of wood and spice (someone mentioned paprika and that feels right). It's got just enough tannins and acidity to give it nice texture and chewiness. It's not amazing but then again it's kind of perfect for when I don't want to really think about what I'm drinking. Drinks well chilled but not necessary. At $17 the QPR could be better but it's still under $20 for a well made wine. |
