4/5/2024 - Xer90 Likes this wine: 95 pointsI grabbed the last 6 bottles from UC liquadation sale and could not be more pleased with the purchase. This is consummate Oakville Napa Valley Cab Sauv , offering a glimpse of finely crafted and dedicated winemaking by the folks at Rudius. A perfectly executed project in combining all facets of dark fruit nuances , in particular black cherry and plum with a balanced array of kitchen savory spices, violet leaf . leather and quarry stone notes on the palette. Almost an endless study of black cherry evolution and impressive from start to finish. An example of a Napa wine in the $125 plus retail price range , more interested in genuinely showing its quality as a exemplary wine than pretense of being something even remotely great at a lofty price tag. |

3/27/2024 - SMHalps Likes this wine: 93 pointsI shared this with my wine group at a Mediterranean restaurant. We had this alongside a Cotes du Rhone Syrah. Personally I preferred this, maybe because it was more new world than the French wine. It reminded me of some of Turley's more restrained Zins from the the early 2000s. Lots of extraction, it was full bodied, dark colored, with a long finish. I'm guessing it had a fair amount of new oak as well. |

12/1/2023 - Labrador Likes this wine: 91 pointsThe nose tells you that this wine is from California, but that just the beginning of a wonderful story. The dark fruit on the nose is rich and that richness extends to the palate in a lovely mouth-coating way. There is a hint of sweetness on the palate. The wine is balanced and has a great finish. I did not find the wine as nuanced as I might have hoped, but that may be due to the fact that I did not decant the bottle. |

12/2/2023 - thalver wrote: NRFor my tastes, the tannins were largely resolved, expressive nose, smooth on the palate, with still enough structure to frame it. No real evolution in the direction of cigar box or typical Bordelais flavors, this tastes like aged, pleasant California cabernet. |

11/5/2023 - Meerlust wrote: 92 pointsDark purple center with a light purple rim. The nose was packed with youthful, dark cherry and blackberry initially with cedar and vanilla as supporting notes. On the palate, with wine displayed intense dark fruit coupled with a subtle oak influence of vanilla and cedar. Although this was full-bodied, the acidity gave this wine vibrancy and character. Overall, this was a great effort from Jeff Ames, and I look forward to opening another at the 20 year mark. |

7/5/2023 - Neecies Likes this wine: NRFrom a Napa-based producer with feet in both California and Oregon, this Walla Walla syrah is aging gracefully. Plummy fruit with notes of asphalt, black olive and bay leaf put a Northern Rhone stamp on new world intentions and tannins remain evident. Just barely into secondary development, this has the goods for further aging. |

6/10/2023 - wmccone54 wrote: NRDefinitely off, and maybe flawed. Slightly “bretty”, after 30 minutes in the decanter, but definitely “drinkable”. Aeration helped bring stabilization, along with the char-grilled NY Strip meal. Eventually, the beautiful red currant, red cherry, green tobacco, black raspberry, and rocky dirt started to emerge. Probably an outlier, I’ve got a couple of additional bottles, so we’ll see. Great experience with this winery in my past dealings. |
