nose: strawberry!!, jam
palate: strawberry, rose, earthy

딸기, 잼 향이 강렬하다. 과실 폭발! 그리고 약간의 장미, 흙 느껴짐.
맛과 향의 복합성이 다소 부족함.

Popped and poured, slow oxed in glass over 90 minutes. Weirdly green smelling, with a little bit of red fruit and vanilla, but overall aromatically quiet. The palate was also green and quite bitter, actually. The fruit profile was slightly pruney, but over the 90 minutes it did slowly take on a more classic sour cherry tone. There is ample oiled leather, and the finish is intensely tannic. Not the most enjoyable experience. Is it an off bottle? An awkward phase? Not sure.

A little brick starting to show on the violet-tinged garnet juice, very pretty. nice legs.

Even at twelve years, this wine is still kinda tight, it took a little while to open up but not so long as to require a decant. That said I first tried this last year and found it at an awkward stage and not enjoyable at all. Considering the producer, I didn’t report then and decided to wait. What a difference a year makes in a wine’s evolution in bottle, this bottle was a delight.

Bright cherry and dried strawberry aromas to start, followed by dried field herbs and a little tobacco, and after some time the nose bursts forth with a wonderfully intoxicating potpourri that evoked Christmas in my mind, with milder pine scents like balsam, vanilla, and toasty baking spices all wrapped into a harmonious single streak midway, with wild oregano on the back end. Lots of what one would hope for in a Sangiovese.

The palate is a little wild and brambly as sangioveses can be, the fruit is still vibrant and tart but starting to wither into dried cherry notes, the oak has transformed into hints of Baker’s chocolate and warm spices, and still aggressive tannins. Definitely a wine to be enjoyed with food, this might chew your gums off if you try to drink it alone. But a great pairing it was with a classic bolognese, rigatoni, and cheeses to finish.

Not the biggest brunello, but I caution those who assume brunello is always a huge style; it’s made of Sangiovese and there is a lot of finesse there, not intentional heft. This is medium bodied by the classic brunello style and worthy of anyone’s cellar who likes Italian reds. And those can take time to show. This could use another five years to show best, and should be good for another 10-15.

Perfectly enjoyable and refined. A got a bit more acidity than expected, which with the results of aging and the derivatives of vanilla and oak got me flavours of orange.

Decent fruit, earth and leather. Texturally: decent acidity and soft tannins. Decanting not required. Overall an above average sangiovese but not in the league one expects from Brunello.

A nice Sangiovese, but not at the level a Brunello should be. This will also have a rather short drinking window for a Brunello from a great vintage. The focus is on the fruit with some subtile bitter touches originating from the mineral aspect. It's a nice wine but 'Brunello' on the label gives other expectations.

Started out ruby in color but by day 4 became opaque, with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, pomegranate, and leather. The improvement by day 5 was dramatic. Enters the mouth with strong, surprisingly complete, upfront, and balanced fruit, acid, and tannin. The texture verges on being rounded and caressing. The swallow is the crowning glory of the taste, both highly delicious and integrated. Overall, went from being a good Brunello to being one of the best I have had this year.

Prior bottle was 13 months ago and the wine continues to show well. Red and black cherry on the nose along with light spices and earth notes. Medium bodied and retains the open red and black cherry both upfront and through the middle. Has a bit of depth and some nice expression through the middle. Hasn't developed additional complexity as I'd hoped, but has come together positively. Tart red cherry, acidity and tannins come in on the back. Finishes with balanced spices, earth and mineral notes. Drinking nicely, but given the professionals reviews and how much I enjoyed the 2006, I do admit to feeling slightly let down. I may open my last bottle as soon as Q2 2024.

Really nice. I was worried it would be too young, but it was perfect out of the bottle and didn’t change too much even after an hour or two of air.

Good amount of structure and oak, but the cherry Sangiovese really shines through.

Color looks much more aged than it really is.

Really light drinking.

Overripe, stewed fruit, some floral notes; fierce tannins on the palate not covered by fruit, thus not harmonious at all. Ends abruptly. Big pass on this one. I wonder what others (and some critics) were drinking here.... 14.5/20

Agree with the consensus. This is a very drinkable and immensely enjoyable wine. Poured a glass right after decanting, nice fruit, earth, and leather in the nose; dark fruit, soft tannins. A touch of acidity in the mouth. Alcohol is not a factor. Exhibits classic Bunello profile, but in a subdued style. Drank with a red sauce with sausage and fresh pasta. Have a few more so will have to work it into the rotation.

A very unique expression this night. I get a strong petroleum note here. Very strong green notes on this wine. The palette delivers bay leaf, pepper and cedar wood. Not much fruit but rather complex undertones of underbrush and mushroom. Just weird !!!

Aromatically this wine is alive and vibrant. I get cedar wood, orange peel and a bit of earth and a slight cherry nose. In mouth cherry fruit emerges along with mushroom, and oregano. Finish includes some fresh asphalt .

Really a young wine. I think this improves well. Give it 3-5 years.
