Decanted for one hour. Nose of blackberry, blueberry, gamey meat, herbs and a hint of spearmint. Black and blue fruit, gamey meat and dried herbs on the palate. Finishes with good length. Medium to full bodied. Served with pepperoni pizza.

Ruby red, the Sangiacomo Vineyard Whole Cluster Syrah is loaded with a rich, succulent
dark & red fruits and a bold texture. The 50% whole cluster fermentation adds sumptuous aromas of white pepper and roasted savory notes on the uplifted mid palate. Dark raspberries are enhanced on the palate to show black cherry, plum, saddle leather and loads of nutmeg spice. 96 POINTS Jeb Dunnuck

Purchased at auction. Translucent purple with minimal but present browning. Incredibly deep, floral nose with notes of baking spice. Elegant, delicate entry which unfolds into a big persistent fruit forward finish. Fairly modern in style but not overly polished and some subtle rusticity. Stated abv of 14.2%. Seems higher to me and alcohol does seep through though not much. Initially pretty wound up but quickly unfolds with air. Pretty well balanced in general and some bright acidity offers nice counterweight to the velvety texture. Yeah this is a great wine. Imo could benefit from cellar time.

Day two note—wine has softened both in body and spirit. Alcohol is more prominent. Not terribly promising.

Method: cellar temp; pop and pour; Bordeaux glass

Look: medium+ ruby

Nose: green olive, violet, blueberry cobbler, baking spices; expressive

Palate: blueberry, dark plum, bit of beef jerky; long- finish beef jerky, dried herbs, light woodsmoke or smoked herbs; dry; medium+ body; medium super round, plush tannins with a bit of velvety grip; medium to medium- acidity

Overall thoughts: Great, expressive and fairly complex nose; great fruit with a lot of savory and earthy notes to back it up. The mouthfeel is excellent with great body and amazing tannins. Sufficient acidity. Great finish. Excellent wine!!!

Update: Still great on day 2, but maybe slightly on the decline. I was very surprised to find a lot of large deposits of sediment in my last glass.

Really nice stuff, and a reminder that I probably prefer Myriad Syrahs to their cabs. Normally not a modern syrah guy, but this hits the right notes.

Pours a dark garnet, initial nose is very blue / black fruit and violet driven. With a bit of air you get some Smokey notes, black olive, and black cherry. Some oak on the palate which still needs to integrate, but not overpowering and will integrate in a few years. Nice biting acidity to keep it fresh and moderate powdery tannins.

Great stuff!

Method: pop and pour and consumed over 3 or so hours; red wine glass

Nose: Black cherry, raspberry, black olive tapenade, violet

Palate: black plum, black cherry, black olive tapenade, violet (opens up eventually to candied violet); long- finish of pepper, violet, dry herbs; dry; medium body; medium amount of smaller well integrated tannin; medium acidity

Overall thoughts: This is drinking wonderfully right now, especially right out of the bottle when the olive note seems the strongest. Wonderfully balanced with great structure. Awesome savory notes meld beautifully with perfectly ripe fruit. Excellent wine!

Alcohol whiff on the nose…then ripe plum and red fruit..
Blackberry, plum, cinnamon, can get the tannic stem component,
Enough acidity to keep it bright enough , finishes with a firm tannin dryness… probably better in 3 years or so…

Rich and expressive. First day was very fruit forward after a bit in the decanter, but the tannins were quiet, which I found odd. Second day was a different wine, fruit much more muted, but the whole cluster side showing up to the show. It think with more time the two might come come together.

Mistakenly labeled under 50% whole cluster heading; notes from last night:

Yesterday: Decanted 30 mins and drank. This was a menthol mess from the get-go, and didn’t change over two hours. There may have been other notes in there but the menthol nose and palate was so off-putting. Put back in bottle under cork and tried again tonight and the same if not worse: all menthol and mint. I’ve had other Myriad wines and they’ve been good, including their syrahs, so I’m trying to believe this wine is ruined/spoiled/corked in some way, but I’ve not had a corked wine that displayed this character. Be interested to know if others have had a similar profile from a corked wine.

Bright fruit--red berries. plums--introduce this wine. Brightness comes from just the right level of acidity. A nice, full-bodied wine. I had the stemmed and crushed version of this wine the other day, and this one is a much more approachable wine. I know I am committing infanticide, but curiosity won out. Remaining bottles will stay sideways for several more years.
