8/20/2017 - stufis wrote: NRWhat a pleasant shock! Gifted from my then-girlfriend's dad, who was a long-term Zachy's employee (there is a Garney Eisner Room at the store marking his valued relationship with Don), this more than survived chronic abuse in closets, on a transcontinental flight, and worse! Cork was a challenge to remove. Muted palate that echoed Bordeaux more than stated it, and the palate was lengthy, showing appropriate flavors. Lasted the hour it was consumed without fading. Excellent! 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

1/14/2016 - stufis wrote: 92 pointsServed over 2 nites; astounding (in a positive way) development over the past few years. Still has the WOE-unique Chard aromatics (really not encountered in anyone else's Chards) followed by a miles-long finish. Color has darkened appropriately, but the whole thing is singing. |

11/14/2015 - stufis wrote: 91 pointsCompared nicely vs. a '12 Turley Old Vines at the same 6-person meal. Higher-toned than the T (which we all found to be quite an interesting variance...not sure which was favored among us...just...different), but balanced and just as rewarding; huge florals, and the lengthy impression on the palate was quite nice. |

9/6/2015 - stufis wrote: 85 pointsOk...this was the "third leaf", the cork was a tad loose (using an ah-so), and those 2 things probably IMHO ("h"= hopeful) contributed to a rather dull offering. Hey, coulda been bottle variation, certainly an issue after so many years. |

8/22/2015 - stufis wrote: 93 pointsThis was tremendous...spicey, lengthy finish, round Zin flavors. No hint of age, other than the balance and nuance all of "us oldsters" bring to the table. The last of the lot, alas. On to the '05s next! |

8/8/2015 - stufis Likes this wine: 92 pointsShockingly fresh after 11 years in my cellar, this exhibited a bit of oakiness but otherwise strutted the floral aromatics and lengthy finish that WOE Pinots all seem to have. I think Jim was using 50% new oak back then, since cut down to the 30s these days. Hardly any bricking to betray its age, this was very nice from what were then only 5-year old vines. |

5/24/2015 - stufis wrote: 91 pointsNicely balanced and floral, one could say "expected" for a Rose. The 33% Chard seemed prominent, but...eh. Really fine with Chicken piccata. $15 from the Heritage auction...huge win for several Schramberg bottles. |

Then it was the season, the harvest, yadda yadda. ..a terrible vintage. But why now? This vintage? A shocker, I tells ya! 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

4/18/2015 - stufis wrote: 86 pointsHoly smokes, Rick! This was a dis-jointed oak bomb! OK, so I'm jusat picking on the last poster...Also, we did finishe it (I do like my oaks at times) but I would have expected this to have been a lot tamer.. Fruit is still hanging on, and was noticeable, but pushed aside by that oak! Whatever other floral notes or pate-pleasing aspects I expected from a 13-year old wine were totally missing. |
