10/20/2017 - fort Likes this wine: 91 pointsbaked blue fruit, ready to drink, not sure how long this will last (not saying it will or won't). This is smooth as silk, tannins are integrated...but there is still some grip when I first opened it. |

5/7/2013 - fort wrote: NRNo score, this was well past prime in my opinion. There wasn't much left but acidity, some earthy/musty/damp wood smell and flavour. A bit of a shame, would have been much better 10 or 20 years ago. |

9/15/2012 - fort wrote: 92 pointsDrank over two days, improved with several hours or air. Lifted nose of cherry / strawberry / slight menthol. Plenty of fruit flavor on the palate. Great with food, plenty of tannin and acidity. Can hold for several years. |

9/12/2012 - fort wrote: 92 pointsI still have a half case of this, but will be drinking up soon as this has evolved quickly (relative to other wines) and I can't see it improving much from here. I find this to be Burgundian in character, light with a lifted nose. A bit of funk; Earthy, leathery, mushroomy...delicious! |

1/13/2012 - fort wrote: 93 pointsDark purple, long thin legs. Nose of bluberry, mulberry, cassis, camphor and graphite, loads of oak, but to my liking. Finish was smokey oak, lingering tannins, delicious and full bodied. Great value, as I think that for the price, this is as good as it gets ( I paid $29.00 at Total Wine Clearwater). One of my favorite steak wines, too bad not in Ontario. |

2/26/2012 - fort wrote: 93 pointsVery little sediment in the bottle, fill was top shoulder. When first opened, there was heaps of mushroom on the nose, this eventually settled down as the night progressed, so decant for at least an hour or two (preferrably more). At about an hour later, the fruit was more pronounced, and after vacuvin and put to the fridge for a day and a half it was at it's peak. The wine is very complex - cool cherry, hints of leather, lots of minerality, earth, fresh soil, truffles and sweet mushroom. There is a Burgundy-like lightness and vitality to the wine. The complexity here is remarkable. I have one other bottle and will hold for a year or so. |

2/17/2012 - fort wrote: 90 pointsOpened on Friday night and drank throughout the long weekend until Monday. This is too young to open. On Friday night, this tasted of mainly sour cherry with pronounced acidity. By Monday evening the wine had changed into something much more interesting, with tar, roses, leather, minerality and menthol, and the palate had gained much more complexity as well. Currently 89, with the potential of 91+ in 5 years time or so. |

2/11/2012 - fort wrote: 90 pointsWhat a huge wine this is. It has serious wow factor up front, but as the night wore on (and more so as the days past, as we drank this over 3 days) we saw how unbalanced this was. It is very alcoholic. The LCBO delayed shipping to stores in order to re-label the alcohol content from 14.5% as stated, to the correct 16%. I have two bottles left, will keep them but wouldn't buy more - hence the 90 point rating. Not sure how this will age, or if the alcohol will ever integrate with the fruit. |

2/4/2012 - fort wrote: 93 pointsThis is not a classic cab by any means, but delicious nonetheless, and I would definitely buy more. You have to be in the mood for it, and it packs a flavour punch that pairs great with BBQ. The nose is mainly chocolate/mocha with blackberries and a touch of cough syrup (it is high alcohol) in the background. The palate is where this won my over - it has a very compelling, rich, mouth coating texture and a finish that goes on and on. Drank over the course of three days, and it did not change much at all. I can see this lasting but not necessarily improving. |

1/9/2012 - fort wrote: 92 pointsThis was 2 wines in one...first night it was complex with red currant, herbs, and spice. 2nd night was very interesting, with loads of menthol and eucalyptus on the nose, and more richness on the palate. For under $20, this is a great wine to try and to follow. Will buy more. |

1/6/2012 - fort wrote: 90 pointsWith dry aged steak. Nose of plums and blueberries would foretell a thick, plush and soft palate, but the wine was memorably thinner with less weight and better acidity than I expected. great with red meat, better value at $30 or less, not the $50 it's priced at at LCBO. |

10/1/2011 - fort wrote: 94 pointsTasting note written months after tasting, but this wine was so memorable that I had to record my notes as I have (and am determined to get) more. My impression was this wine was somewhere between a Napa cab and a Burgundy, as different as they are, with the best of both worlds. NAPA - deliciously dark fruit and a superb, rich nose, made me dream of a steak... BURG - The Burgundy likeness was the finesse, like that of an aged Burgundy with close to no tannin, so smooth, velvety and easy to drink. This was my first taste of the 09 CdP and I like the early drinking, easy style, but the lack of tannin makes me wonder how long this will last. |
