At this point the pronounced oak is gone revealing red fruit, some well-integrated oak flavor and a very fine-grained tannic structure. Just enough acidity to freshen the red fruit. With airtime this became nicely darker fruited with good balance, a touch of cedar and a silky finish. Cellaring paid off for this. Very nice. |

Strawberry, cranberry and white pepper scents with just a hint of bret/old barrel peeking through on the scent. Bright strawberry flavor with good, well integrated acidity. Light in body but very flavorful and glugable. Seamless on the palate with subtle, ripe, fine-grained tannins and a juicy finish. This has held up well and is very enjoyable. Would go great with goat cheese and fruit spread. |

Fruit sweet, smooth, powerful, seamless and long on the palate. Super fine tannins on the finish provide a touch of grip. Tastes like no other zinfandel due to the unique field blend. Reminds me of Thackery's Orion, and that's a very good thing. No need to hold off as it's at peak for my palate now. A short decant is all this needs. |

Powerful, dark, black raspberry fruit, with silky tannins on the long finish. Has power that the '94 Insignia drank alongside did not have. Palate staining in a good way. Oak absorbed. Really excellent with plenty of life left in this. Worth aging for the past 25+ years. |

At first, I thought it lean and tight, maybe even premoxed with subtle sherried notes but not much else consumed at cellar temp. On the second evening this opened up to show a core of bright acidity, a bit of wooliness and lots of quince and lemon flavor. On the third night it smoothed out and became more balanced with bright orange, pineapple and baked apple fruit flavors. Finishes long with good acidity, orange pith flavor and a bit of tannin, similar to an orange wine. Nice, but I would decant this next time. |

Had a couple of glasses and put it into the fridge with a Klover stopper. New Years Day with football - very nice bead and better balance. Really nice oxidative flavors with lemon, nut oil and seashell flavors. Good density of flavor but not as long on the finish as the best champagne's. Left me happily pleased and teased but wanting more length on the finish. Really nice with potential to improve. Good value too for grand cru juice. |

She's very sensitive to oak and dislikes that flavor in her SB. Popped and poured with maybe 15 minutes of air before consuming. Crystal clear with just a hint of yellow color. Nice scent of white flowers, a touch of seashell, lifted by mild lemon acidity. Flavors repeated the scents on the palate. Very elegant, but a bit light in body. It left me seeing the potential but wanting more flavor intensity. Very nice, but not in the class of Baudry's best which delivers the quality and intensity of flavor I like in SB for half the price. Lots of fuzz and sediment, so this bottle needed a week upright to settle and a good decant. Bright copper orange color. Does not give much on the scent. Rose like scent with minerals and chalk. Good body and density on the palate. A good amount of acidity makes this work, especially with food. Finishes with fine grippy tannins and the flavor of blood orange. Surprisingly refreshing. |

Looks advanced, but the palate is seamless pear and lemon custard flavors with a core of bright concentrated acidity. Finishes long and smooth with a touch of lemon and minerals. Very nice. I would drink up if you have some as they will not be as good once the acidity fades further. This bottle was perfectly stored at cellar temps. I think the notes on flawed or advanced bottles are probably from less-than-optimal storage. |
